Re: Near the bone gate

"Thank you."

Turning to Anita and Benito, Mario lowers his voice.

"This seems reasonable, though there's always the possibility of getting a better price by bargaining, especially if you're skilled in that.  We could also find another shop and compare, though prices are usually pretty consistent.

"We might do better with a donkey, however -- they're smaller and less expensive than mules, and the smaller cart would command less rent and still carry the three or four hundredweight we need to move."

"Sir, what if I was to help you with your work? How many days wor would it take to earn the right to borrow a cart and something to pull it?"

What needs to be done, IE rolls, actions, etc, to see this plan in motion:

Jareth Mooncalled:
Then barring any further distractions, Jareth and Jocelyn should be off to get a pair of wicker baskets or cages, trap the one yr-go, leave the second cage/basket for Ymid to contain his familiar should he feel unable to maintain control of it, then off to the Dismal Tower with the yr-go in a cage, in a sack.

Jocelyn is able to grab one of the things and close it up in a basket... the other eludes her. I'm thinking a fireball. might bring the little plucker down

"We just leave t'e basket here.  Ymid, if'n ya gonna be unable to keep t'e familiar under control, can ya put 'im in here first?  Protect t'e ot'er people what live hereabout."

Then they cover the basketed yr-go with a sack and head to the Dismal Tower.  (Unless there is anything else)

OOC Jareth pays the $20.

Narrator:
At least one of the sages at the dismal tower is proficient in alchemy, and likely to be interested in the fungoid construct in the basket.

Which one?

Leroy can walk into the area and run right into them. Nodwin, I am still trying to map out the extent of the property. Essentially, for every point dropped into base, you expand your control of the block.

Re: Near the bone gate

A tall, strong-looking young man, wearing scale panoply, and carrying a soldier's pack, with a small shield slung across it, makes his way through the street. A lock of unruly auburn hair protrudes from his coif, only his face visible, which is pale and striking. His gear looks new, and he looks to be about 18 or so. His gray eyes calmly regarded the people passing around him, as he strode along with the confidence and air of an experienced fighter, about him. A boarding axe was tucked through his belt, and also, looped to a thong, hung a war club, and the hilt of a baselard can be seen in his left boot. It's fairly obvious he's not from around here, although he wears a guild badge...

In reply to Benito Drake (msg # 964):

You have been outfitted with a donkey and a small cart.
You also have directions westward to collect building materials from some of the goblin artisans, along with the assorted items of glassware on Mario's list.

Which items was Nodwin going to procure?

The meat products can be found eastward in little Shevnia to the east.

In reply to Tradesman (msg # 966):

The first order of the day is to transport Benito's boxes to his new home, and then lock them securely, while Anita guards them. The second is to head over to get the building materials. Once he has done that, he can get to work on the repairs, unless others want him to continue negotiations for the glasswares or other items.

Re: Near the bone gate

OOC Nodwin was to talk to the Hadereum about the buildings across the street.  I think there was also mention of the one on the corner with bars and the basement that leads to nowhere.

(msg #858)
I can create food through the goodness of Vejovis, but it would be tiring without basic materials to work with.  If you want to spend some silver to feed the refugees, I will add from my purse as well.  Thank you for the kindness, as I feel they are somewhat my responsibility.  Vejovis be with you.

As for your suggestion, I will gladly speak with the Hadereum about the buildings across the street.  They have fallen into disrepair, and I'm sure there would be interest in revitalizing the neighborhood.  We should have a convincing argument for taking ownership.

To that end, I will ask the refugees to assess the buildings across the street as well, to help tally the materials we will purchase tomorrow.  They may not know the architectural side, but they can give us the basics.  I will also find out what skills they have, to see how we can best organize chores and responsibilities around maintenance and upkeep.

(msg #877):
I will plan to visit with the Hadereum, to see if we can take over the empty building across the street.  Once I have finished that, I will talk to the refugees and figure out who has ability with what.  Whoever escorts them should have a lot to contribute on the topic as well.  My end intention will be to set up chores and maintenance responsibilities among the group.

There was an add on in msg #890 for a Pawn Shop that Benito could take over.
There is a freestanding building directly adjacent to the collapsed street aon the next block that was a former pawnshop. It is fortifiable with iron doors, but its basement leads no where

"Then to the Guild it is.  Anvil, you say?  Three hundredweight!  We might need to hire one of the ogres or half-ogres around the guild just to get that into the cart and then into the building.

"Hmm, pretty sure Vilgar is above that, and he doesn't hang around the Guild much any more.  All the other ogres I can recall are out of town, working.  Maybe we can find an especially sturdy orc."

"Four regular humans usually can manage it. In a pinch, Anita and I can move it onto the cart."

[OOC: Note, with one person on a handle at each of the four corners, regular ST 10 guys can combine to lift 480 lbs and still be in only Heavy Encumbrance. No running or jumping, granted, but surely enough to move the thing to the cart.

However, the Two-handed lift, 8xBL = 160 for ST:10 will actually suffice for the two of them. B353, Lifting and Moving things.]

"Oh, well, if it's made to be carried that way, we might get it ourselves, then.  I'm used to anvils just being big lumps of iron in a particular shape."  Mario looks over Benito.  "You don't look especially burly; I'm probably about as strong, and this leg doesn't give any trouble other than slowing me down a bit.  Hadereum says it'll be good as new in a few more weeks.

"Good thing we don't need to take it down into the basement, though.  We had all kinds of work getting that barrel of cuttlefish up from the tunnels, I can't think an anvil would be any easier, whether going up or down."
