The Common Room

Grimaldi found a seat with his back to the wall, and frowned menacingly as he waited.

I'm looking for a man named Conard du Menteur. The guild has a few questions for him. We treat those who assist us quite well, by the way,"
he says quietly, making sure that only the barkeep hears him.
He reaches into his pouch and pulls a gold piece from it, which he slides to the barkeep discreetly. He then reaches up to his brooch and flips it over, revealing a guild badge. He leans a bit closer and takes a sip of his drink.

Grimaldi seemed pleased, they had not wasted their time at what he thought was an absolute mistake, in coming inside the place. "If we're careful, we may be able to use this knowledge to pin our activities on these thugs, after we've left our mess, and taken our quarry..."
"We should find this place, and perhaps our noble friends could come in with a complaint, occupying Connard, whilst we move in from the back, then we spring our attack. But first, we'll need to procure some manacles and restraints for our prisoner, perhaps a sack for his head, and a gag as well."

"Oh, aye... We can do it the "hard way" as well. I too, live by a code of honor, in that I don't neglect my physical prowess, keep my word, defend honor, and stand by my friends, family, and employers. I just feel these scoundrels aren't worthy of being given that courtesy, Sirs."
Grimaldi reasoned with the knights.

"I, for one, quite like Grimaldi's plan. Let us not forget that this man is an official, supposedly. We are already in with rogues and scoundrels, and this job is paying good coin. We're going to have to rely on our employer for a smokescreen when the deed is done. Good knights, I think the time for Honor is not now, and that we instead honor our contract with Vilgar. The guild employs us, not some knightly code of honor, and maybe your lot should consider that before continuing your employment, not all of our work is honorable."

"Forgive me my insistence on this point, I cannot pretend to be other than who I am, a life lived unauthentically is not bearable. I thrive on open combat, and if our erstwhile employer has noted that our quarry is , as he put it, 'holed up' like a coward or burrowing vermin, then there is no other egress, or he would have sent agents below streets to attack from that direction. This villain who hides behind some bureaucratic title might legally be able to impose taxes and citations on this pitiable public house, but has no recouse but to defend himself openly, or to be subject to siege and slaughter of his henchmen and retainers."

You exit the tavern, not without a few looks from the one eyed man and his fellow toughs, and make your way through the fairly narrow streets toward a warehouse that is fortified with iron bars. Two rough looking brutes stand by the door beside a pull rope. There is a painted wooden sign that says  "Du Menteur properties"

Sederic laughs and grasps the hilt of Miekka. He turns around and addresses the party quietly.n
"Maybe we should just go find these champions, then, good knights? We tried your method, it didn't work. Now try ours. It's the least you can do."
He slightly draws Miekka from it's sheath and a hum is heard as the beautiful silver blade shines. He removes his hand  and the blade hovers there instead of falling the rest of the way into the sheath.
