There are a few wounded ones that are not reduced to being imbeciles, about four.

Oly, make a search roll.

In reply to Oly (msg # 341):

you find a number of pouches, with a handful of copper each, totalling $39.
You also note that the wooden crosses worn by the cultists contain  cheap crescent shaped small knives.
The three leader types have silver ones, and one is wearing an unusual robe.

Zure   He puts things down and removes the robe from the body, checking for any coin or other things of value as he does it. He folds it up and picks everything back up.

Mancini takes a couple of the wooden crosses/ cheap knives for later study.  He makes his way over to the remaining prisoners.

He walks around the group, quietly studying their reactions and trying to figure out the best way to get them to talk.

The wounded ones look like some information might be got from them with magic compulsion, but the babblers look completely fried, although they are probably at risk for possession.

Ardenas follows Mancini's gaze.  "I'd bet the Hadereum can get anything out of them that can be gotten.  I wouldn't turn a friend over to them, if I had a choice, but whatever these guys were summoning needed a demon sacrifice, and that can't be good."

Mancini, having apprised the situation, walks over to Ardenas and Aoife. He lowers his voice so that it barely is above a whisper. "Whatever that tentacled thing was sure did a number on these creeps. The ones who are disturbed are in risk of possession, and I fear the ones who were unscathed will probably not talk without the aid of a magical compulsion."

He turns to Aoife. "Your little leprechaun bag of tricks doesn't include a truth telling spell does it? Personally, I would not hand these vermin over to the Haeredeum blind. Plus, anything we could learn would be useful in stopping the  spread of this cult and add income into our pockets and the Guild's."

Mancini paused for a second before continuing. "If we need to turn them over, we will be sitting ducks for the escaped cultists and that escaped demon. It may be prudent just to put the disturbed ones out of their miseries and only take the ones not turn to mush. Also, we should get someone to consecrate this ground, just to ensure that nothing else demonic can use this hideout as a staging ground."

Ardenas shakes his head.

"I don't know that I like the idea of torturing injured people, though for these I might make an exception.  I'd still like to know what they thought they were accomplishing.

"Sacrifices usually exchange a life for a favor, if I've understood correctly.  What sort of favor would you get for the life of a demon?  And what would these folks have done with such a favor?"

"I'm no expert on demons; it's not something I was trained specifically to fight.  Master Rethki spoke of them only a little; he claimed it was dangerous even to speak of them in detail, that in some cases doing so could summon them.

"As far as I recall, that didn't include anything about their vanishing act."

"These petty demons can assume a spirit form, the process is very tiring, and they can only hold the form for a sixth part of an hour. Doubtless their return to the physical realm is accompanied by the same puff of brimstone that they exude when they leave it. In any case, they can only move as fast as they can walk, but can pass through walls"
