Mancini appraises the situation and quickly estimates the cost of hiring laborers. He shakes his head. No way he spend that on common laborers.

"I think spending all of our treasurer to deal with some 'spring cleaning' would be a major cut into the profits of this mission, as well as be a waste of time if we need to hunt down the demon and the other cultists. I have a better idea."

Mancini looks over at Norman. "Hey friend. I need you to do a tiny favor for me. Why don't you take a quick stroll over to the Haedereum and alert them to the situation? Let the bastards deal with the prisoners and the cleanup."

Mancini smiled. "Of course, don't add in the part about them being bastards." He then pats Norman on the shoulder.

Hiring a crew of laborers would probably cost $100-120

Mancini's voice lowers for a moment so that only his fellow adventurers could hear him. "I've decided to try and purge some of this evil here myself. Oddly enough, my family on my mother's side were liscensed exorcists. I never cared or believed in that sort of stuff as such. I mean, demons were just things people made up to scare you into things or to take your money. And,if someone wanted to be taken advantage of by some soothsayer using some cheap parlor tricks, I say fine by me."

He pauses for a second before continuing. "That was before what we witnessed here today. Real life demons. The tentacled creature, whatever that was. And who knows what the hell else? "

"I don't remember much from my mother's teaching on the subject, but I do remember that, if the universe is aligned with the purpose, and you have the strength of will, you are able to perform an exorcism."

He looks at the ragtag group is currently travelling with, his eyes pleading. "Look, by the time Norman comes back, we can have it finished and maybe keep the demon from returning here to finish what they started."

"I might need Kalima's help in this matter, though."

"Kalima, your thoughts?" he says quietly, looking expectantly at the demon huntress. Mancini was nervous as hell about what he was proposing, but was doing his best not to let the others catch on. The last thing he needed was a shakeup at the Guild due to his actions.

Seeing everyone in agreement, Mancini begins the ceremony. He begins to chant in a foreign language, one he is unaware of even knowing. As he moves around the room, he sprinkles water at very specific intrevals, petitioning the universe and the holy deities to entertain his pleas.
He also begins to destroy the dark symbols that are strewn about the room as a way of showing his intent to the universe.

Mancini, sensing the change in the atmosphere, relaxes some. " I think we have expelled the fleeing demon from this place. Thank you for your aid, Kalima."

He hears some voices overhead. Mancini stops and listens perceptively, trying to discern who it was overhead.

In reply to Aoife (msg # 408):

A man in heavy armor and purple robes descends the stairs alongside Norman, and followed by several other robed figures. He pauses to survey the carnage.

"Mancini. This is problematic. We did not know that this cult" he holds up one of the crossed sickles that Norman had brought him,"was this widespread. I am going to have to increase the Hadereum's presence under the city to keep the earth sanctified against these things... I espy a number of demons among the dead. what is this swath of slime from?"

Mancini bows respectfully and applies all the correct protocols when meeting with someone from the Haeredeum. "We traced this cell from the docks. Apparently, they were buying up all the cuttlefish. We're still not quite sure why they were, since they seemed to throw it into barrels and let it rot."

"Once we got here, we managed to get the slip in them, as they were in some sort of ritual that involved sacrificing demons to summon some sort of ancient good that would seek to snuff out existence. Luckily, for us, we interrupted the ceremony, but not before a tentacled slime cube with psychic abilities came through the portal. I am quite not sure what it was."

Mancini continues. "In the process, one of the demons got away. We have no need for the cultists, as whatever was going on here totally messed with their minds, and figured you would be more skilled in extracting any information from them. Plus, we would like to ensure protection for Kalima as she hunts down the fleeing demon."

He thinks for a moment. "Yes, additional protection in the Undercity would be good. Just as long as it respects the Guild's longheld rights in the area."

(Ooc: Saviore Faire (15) roll passes. Diplomacy (16) roll fails by 1.)

"Hmm, I suppose the, er demon hunter may continue with her mission. We will be claim8ng this site for fortification, and perhaps search for deeper locales. We may be relaxing some of the grounds for the guild to proceed into the undercity as well, to make an end to this cult. Were you able to retrieve any other artifacts of the cult, beside the numerous symboks they wore? Any heretical texts they had should be bound for the furnace, and we should pay a bounty upon such things.  It is right that you requested our presence here."
