Re: Cultists by the docks

In reply to Aoife (msg # 610):

As Aoife blasts it again, its form shudders, and it is in the process of turning it to a pool of icy brine as Ardenas strike at it. Its scimitar remains.

Mancini recalls that this sort of demon could only be slain by supernatural means, which is why Oly nearly decapitating it couldn't  kill it, and why Ardenas' spell flung weapons were more effective than those in his hands.

Re: Cultists by the docks

As soon as it is safe, Mancini goes and examines the scimitar.

(Ooc: 13:12, Today: Mancini rolled 14 using 3d6.  Merchant 16)

"The cult is sparing no expense in whatever they are trying to accomplish. That demon we just fought could only be harmed by magical means, which is why we had such a difficult time fighting against it. Does anyone have any clue what the sorcerer had on him? He had to had a way of dispelling the creature, otherwise why summon it in the first place?"

Afterwards, Mancini looks for some water he can bless so that he can start sealing the room off from demonic forces.

Re: Cultists by the docks

Ardenas brings out the items he took from the sorcerer.  "Looks like a vial of blue paut and what I suspect is a mana stone.

"I don't think he summoned this thing, I think he had long since done that and had it somehow stored in that vial he threw.  Or maybe it was an alchemical summoning.  As for a way to get rid of it, maybe a better search will turn something up.  Or maybe he just planned to let it loose after it had done his dirty work.

"Speaking of getting rid of supernatural beings, did anyone get a good look at what happened with Kalima vanished?  Did the ice cat cast a spell, or use a tool?"

A shiver passes over him.  "Damnation, that was cold.  I think we might want to go seek out some healing, Oly was hit harder than I was."

Re: Cultists by the docks

In reply to Ardenas Barehand (msg # 615):

The sword would appraise at $700, perhaps more to a collector of demonic artifacts.

The robes the demonologist was wearing are worth $2000

The paut is worth $135, and the magical stone needs to be appraised. It looks delicate.

Near the spereading pool of icy brine are some shards of jade and quartz, two fragmented to be of worth.

"Hmmmph. Need a healer indeed! Who is worst off?"

She casts some healing magic, starting with those most injured (Only?)

[Private to GM: I rolled a natural 5, skill 20, so critical success? Next roll was 10 under, putting as much energy as her skill will allow her to do for free, normally 2 for 4 hp...]

"Luckily, I managed to about any real damage that last battle. That demon seemed to almost avoid me at one point, which is weird, since I am obviously the weakest. Strategically, it makes no sense to me. Spend your healing on Adrenas and Oly, Aoife."

He searches the room for any fresh, clean water.
(Ooc:09:37, Today: Mancini rolled 17 using 3d6.  Perception 15, to find any fresh, clean water in the room, Critical failure.)

"Norman, place the scimitar and robes in your bags. They will fetch us all some good coin after this is all over."

Re: Cultists by the docks

As Aoife is healing Oly, Ardenas will carefully touch-search the area near the door, both inside and out.

"Mancini, can you help me search, in case Kalima is still here, but invisible and incapacitated?  She might be standing or have fallen.  Never know what some demon might have as a special power."

"Since I won't be able to sanctify this area, that sounds like a good idea. That amazes me that they were able to do whatever they did to Kalima. I will have to ask her about it if we ever find her."

Mancini aids Adrenas in looking for any signs of Kalima.

Given Oly's refusal of healing, Ardenas will leave off the search for Kalima long enough for Aoife to heal him.

In reply to Ardenas Barehand (msg # 627):

You aren't sure what it was the Demonologist threw at Kalima, it might be worth consulting Spielgud about the stoe you found.
In addition to the fancy robe and the stone and potions, the demonologist also had a dagger that felt magical, a potion belt, a pouch of thirty pieces of silver, and he had a pair of fine boots, only one of which remains.
The lesser demon is rapidly decomposing,
And the two dead cultit had cheap maces,
Cross/sickle knives, and homespun robes died sepia.
