Re: Cultists by the docks

"Yes Norman, let's get the Haedereum to further fund our adventures. Why risk our life and limb for what little they promised us the last time?" He scrunched his nose up as if he had smelled something bad. " And you know they'll try to weasel out of it first chance they get."

Mancini thought for a second. "As far as the bodyguard, I think Norman would be better suited than I. I have no great skill in brute Force, plus I am too well known in town to not stick out like a sore thumb."

"Also, what about making the tracking object something the vendor would find too precious to part with? Merchants are nortoriously greedy and prideful, and I am assuming demonic ones doubly so, so if we knew of an item they thought unique enough they just wouldn't sell. Enchant that item with the Seeker spell and you would be guaranteed to find the shop always.

"Like a gem or a coin with which we pay for something? Problem is, these demons would give their stuff away just to get it used, just for the chaos and evil it creates. They are not really in it for the money..."

No Thaumatology here, sorry. Anything else to roll?

"Yes, you may be right about that, Aoife. That is partly why I wanted to speak with the Haedereum. While they are as slimy as they come, they do have certain insights that are useful in circumstances like this and would be useful in helping formulating a next course of action."

He looks at the group. "Last chance to hide the valuables before they get here. The only things they need to know about are items directly related to getting Kalima back or how to track our demon shop of horrors."

Re: Cultists by the docks

"From the little I understand, Seeker isn't applied to an item, it points to a selected item, like a weather vane points upwind.  And the item must be unique enough for the caster to identify, whether it's an object or a person.  Someone could cast Seeker on you, Mancini, but they couldn't cast it on 'a third-tier Guild badge holder.'"

Ardenas gets wide eyed for a moment.

"Our Guild tags -- they're made unique enough so the Guild can track them."

He reaches into his collar, pulls out his tin and looks it over.

In reply to Ardenas Barehand (msg # 682):

A moment later, Norman returns with several of the Hades Priests.
"Enough is enough, we are rededicating that temple, and sending out a large party to reconsecrate a long abandonded shrine to Hades,  and start patrolling down here. I appreciate the work our private contractors are doing, and we will continue to support them, as there are only so many of us.  Now, what is this about hunting for a travelling demonological shop?"

In reply to Plutocrat Remulos (msg # 683):

"It would appear that many of these demonic activities are based on items sold that our friend suspected were being sold out of a demonic shop that teleports itself around to avoid detection. We certainly saw such items being used, one to summon a demon, another to banish our demon hunter friend. If that is true then I think you will agree the shop needs to be found and closed down...permanently. Amoung other things, I don;t think they have your permission to set up shop here in Northport..."

In reply to Aoife (msg # 684):

The priest frowns.
"This is quite serious. All demons belong in Hades or so n the deeper hells. A shop that facilitates their entry to this plane must be eradicated. Alas, we are stretched thin, to the point that we are even allowing members of your sect to engage in urban planning and to oversee  rebuilding and planting in the area of that recently caused street collapse. Our senior agents are investigating an infiltration on temple hill. Would you be willing to investigate this?"

Re: Cultists by the docks

Mancini interjects graciously. "While Aoife may have put the matter more indelicately that I would, she is essentially correct in the matter. We will need additional funds in order to hire the necessary expertise in order to make our trip to the demonic bookstore convincing and not look like a bunch of uneducated rubes. This, you would agree Plutocrat, serves both the Guild's and the Haedereum's interests to shut this source of chaos down for good without incident."

Mancini paused for a second. " Additionally, we need a way to bring Kalima back from her home plane. Her expertise and fighting skill has proved invaluable already in putting a dent in this vile plot. Perhaps that is why they used the demonic spellstone on her, because we were onto something."

"But think of the Goodwill that would be fostered between your sect and Kalima's if you were to help her return to this plane to help us in this mission. Goodwill, I'm sure the Haedereum will be more than apt to exploit at a later time once an opportune point arises."
