From the courtyard, a flight of stone stairs turns upward toward the left, curling around the Donjon, where arrowslits can be found facing the vine choked steps, and there appear to be murderholes on the overhang fifteen yards above. To the right, the bailey, about five yards wide, wraps around the  base of the tower, making a left turn.

Aethul will move up the stairs cautiously, looking for possible traps and for things around that he may see from the better height.

The footing is bad here, a combination of vines and loose stones. There are vines crawling up the walls and the steep, curved flight of stairs, but they don't quite resemble the ones on the outer wall.
You approach an arrow slit and notice that the interior seems to have a shutter in place.

Do not bring the mule up these steps, lest it break a leg and have to be put down.  I will seek to look inside, but not enter.

Balir will follow closely with the group, and try to be quiet about it if possible.  If it looks possible, he wants to be in front so he can shield his companions from any attack.

Balir will defer to Aethul, as he looks human and is thus trustworthy.  Given these conditions, Balir is comfortable letting him take the lead.  He'll hang his battle axe on his belt, and take out a throwing axe instead.

For a dwarf wearing heavy mail, Balir follows along surprisingly quietly.

Snorri escorts Kirpich around the back of the tower, where a set of stables are attacked, with a shorter tower at the opposite end. The other tower is attached to the wall that encloses the area, and there is a covered well in the courtyard. Trees grow close along the outer wall, which is again, three yards high and capped with spikes.

There is an abandoned coach, and two horse skeletons in the stable. This tower also is approached by steps that curl around the structure, directly under the murder holes in the battlements.

What food there was is long rotted away. There are other bays the mule could go into; there are six in total, four vacant, two with bones.
