I can certainly track it, although some care is required, lest it circle back to it's tracks.

He notes Balir's continued over confidence, but nods and smiles. So do we want to track it or try to lure it back here?

"Tracking it will be more certain of killing it, but it may prove a very useful unwitting ally in fighting a greater evil here. Hence, can we lure it here? Is it even feasible?

It is feasible to try, I will have to hunt up something as bait and then watch the wind. We will also need to find a safe camp, lest it decide we are more delectable. Fire will be no issue , if it is a beast of fire.

"Good idea. We should find a place on the opposite side of this base, so as not to be inside, and also not to distract the beast from here."

He will lead those not going to distract the beast around the stronghold to the other side, and look for a place about a mile or so away...

Since the conversation seems to lapse for a moment while the two experienced trackers are thinking, Balir fills in the space with needless chatter.
"What do those things eat?"
"How fast are they?
"Do they have weak spots you could point out?
"Would they be affected by the cold?"
"Could it also be turned into a Vampyre if the Vampyre win?"

Balir is unsure whether he should accompany Aethul or not.  No explanation was given for him leaving the group, but he seemed sure of himself.  After a moment of indecision, Balir decides that Kirpich needs protection more than Aethul, and sticks with the main party.

Aethul finds the tracks of a rather hurried sheep that must have fled the farmstead when it was attacked. Sheep tend not to run for far, so it should be within an hour's walk.

That might be a day's hike. A lot of the land may have been cleared, but 40 years without being worked takes its toll.

PPL was a phone thing. It likes to spontaneously insert spaces and random letters.

There is a good deal of cleared land (at least a mile's worth South and East)to one side of the raised roadway, and a tangle of overgrowth and fairly mature trees surrounding the tower and its precincts to the west.
