Ashbury's Abattoir: a tavern near a slaughter house

In reply to Sederic (msg # 204):

The passage west moves along a little unevenly as some of the flagstones are cracked, and a broad area appears to have been replaced with thick terra cotta tile.
There is a similar plugging of a smaller hole in the ceiling.
You pass one bricked over entrance, and there is another pair of opposed gates bear the repair, both full of rubble.
The next intersection is a little different, with most of the decorative tile along the shoulder of the wall missing, and an iron hook protruding from one corner. The ceiling above it has layers of old smoke smudges.

This intersection heads four ways. You came from the east (and south east before that) southward aboveground leads toward  the merchant's  district, west to the artisan  and temple districts, and north through redlight toward dockside, or at least it should.

"Let's use what we have left to direct foot traffic, from each district, from this intersection, here. I think the merchant's area is probably the least important, because those places tend to have better shops and establishments, and Ashbury's place is definitely for rougher sorts."

"Alright, let's head north here, and we'll place some signs, then, we'll turn 'round, and head back to the intersection, and head westward, where we'll place another set of signs.
We'll do merchant's if we have anything left. Let's head north, first...Careful, we're going to be coming up underneath redlight district.."

You tramp along northward, noticing numerous cracks in the area, mostly along the eastern wall.

Grimaldi asked, keeping an eye on the group's rear, as they moved through the passageway.

and some adventurers foiled an evil cult that was trying to make
the boy into one of them, and the cultists were all sucked into hell, along with the buildings  above them."

"As long as there are no more worm or corpse hauling. That might be alright for you two... and seriously, no fifty ssets of maces either. I heard that Lifty hurt his back doing that... he hires out as a guide, and the union has him training to be a bartender.  Oh, and that guy with the scar is Oly, the hero who rescued the child. Everybody knows him! We would be happy to talk over a few drinks!"

A stone block shifts up the coridor, out of the range of your light.
There is a patter of sandaled feet on stone as the stone slides again.
