Ashbury's Abattoir: a tavern near a slaughter house

In reply to Sederic (msg # 4):

Dufresne takes the paper and squints at the seal before opening. His brows furrow.
"Hah! So this is to be the new bouncer? Speak any Shevnian? These butchers have been looking to come to us for lunch. I don't think they are the customers Ashbury was planning on, but I suppose he can't complainif the seats are filled. Come in, buy a drink. Not you, Lourdad, there is no drinking on the job."

Ashbury's Abattoir: a tavern near a slaughter house

In reply to Benoit DuFresne (msg # 5):

While the sign is on the corner by the west door, yu enter thrugh this oe, and find yourself near the kitchen. The floirs are rouh, as are the walls, although they seem recently whitewashed. The furniture is worn and mismatched, and the chair legs
look gnawed on.
Half of the common area is occupied by a large wooden hoist, from which a rope disapears into a slot cut into a trap door with a deadbolt. The fireplace loks a bit rough.

Three menin stained leather aprons sit at a bench by one of the two large tables eating stew, bread, and cheese, and drinking dark ale.

"Forsooth, so it is!"
Grimaldi chuckled.
"Ale for us, please. And as far as speaking Shevnian, I don't. Do either of you?"
Grimaldi asked the ruffian, and half elf, as he reached in his jacket for his coin pouch.

In reply to Shevnian bar patron (msg # 9):

"Oh ho! That word I know- nápoj. Drink coming up,  you Hlúpi Shevnian!"
The bartender steps behind the rough counter and draws an ale with a wicked glare for the irritated looking butcher.

"And what are you gentlemen drinking? I will need a hand with the winch, it is hardly a job for one."

In reply to Sederic (msg # 12):

Benoit pours the ale, and then the deadbolt to the trapdoor, which he raises with a flourish.
Below is a dimly lit space where you can see some barrels, and a rope leading down to the four corners of a yard wide topless box.  the space below smells of fresh whitewash and damp.

"Let's lower him down to his new friends, Martin, you scamp! Show yourself!"

A thin, dark clad man with unkempt hair looks up from the room below at you.
"What now Dufresne? I am working down here, Uncle Ash wants more lightstones ready for customers, but all I have seen ate these gits from accross the canal. Who are these fellows ?"

As you lower Lourdad to his next assignment, the bartender offhandedly remarks, "You know, Ash wants me to charge a silver for passage into the undercity. I may need a little advertising, and I doubt Liebert's paper signs are going to be any good. I have a limner painting signs on wooden planks that might do better, I could use someone to  go and post them, and for that I could pay you a days wage, or give you a tin badge that gets you through free."

"Oh, Little Shevnia can be a rough place. Anger and Despair hang in the air, and even a simple job like this, is bound to be met with ruffians and other ne'er-do-wells, that would make it difficult, for a milksop, methinks. That probably means easy money, for us."

"Let me clarify, the signage needs be in the Undercity, not above it. ash hired the crier for the guild, these Shevniabs found the place on their own. Besides, there is a team of laborers to actually hang the signs. They won't work without escort."
