Ashbury's Abattoir: a tavern near a slaughter house

"Those things were nasty indeed. Meikka can handle them for us, while we throw spells, if we run into any more of them. I saw what those quills did to your arm, and I'd rather not get close."

Ashbury's Abattoir: a tavern near a slaughter house

Grimaldi winced.
"'Twas most painful, and chilled me to the bone. I was lucky to throw off the effects of it's poison. The slorn I have heard can breathe a poisonous cloud, or flames...very stubborn, and hard to put down, they are..."

"Where do you want us to start? Bart stood watch while we did this one.  Are we going that way" he points toward the wet end of the corridor," or the other way?"

In reply to Sederic (msg # 58):

The right hand passage leads to a T-intersection that is fairly narrow on it's crossbar; your passage is about four yards wide, this one is about two.  You can see that there are gates set into the wall across from the outer wall of the under-tavern (on the right hand of the T's crossbar),  and in some places, you can see that the Tavern's side masonry wall is sagging, and supported by large beams that abut the opposite wall on a diagonal; it would seem that the constant damp from the area beyond the gate, which you realize is spillage from the canal above.

The right hand of the T continues as far as your light permits, to the left, it is principally the same.  The best places to put signs here would be in sight of the gates into the wet tunnel. There does not seem to be much foot traffic here, but those are probably where maintenance workers would see them.

Bringing up the rear, Grimaldi stopped, and from his vantage point, he noted this would be a good place for them to start their work, and to post up as sentinels.
"Ho! This looks like a good place to start."

In reply to Sederic (msg # 61):

Evain sorts through the signs to get a tavern sign and an arrow, and holds up one end of the tavern sign. Frank reluctantly takes the other end, and Gaston, who is taller, starts pounding a spike through the sign on Frank's end.

The banging is quite loud, and bits of old mortar and crumbled brick fall from the wall.

Grimaldi stands back and keeps his eyes on the passage, and ignores the workers.

Sederic spreads out, and watches the opposite end, where Grimaldi is posted. Like Grimaldi, he doesn't watch the workers, but watches the passages for shadows and movement.

10:24, Today: Grimaldi rolled 12 using 3d6.  Fast Draw (broadsword) ~ 14+1.
10:23, Today: Grimaldi rolled 9 using 3d6.  Hidden lore (undead) ~ 13.

Grimaldi narrows his eyes, and appraises the undead, cooly.
He swiftly unsheathes his estoc, which is well suited to deliver stiff, solid blows, as it is to pig-stick.
"Ho! Undead, infest these passages! We'll protect you."

"The skulls are of value alone, but necromancers can always find a use for bits...
If you're planning on trading in the undead we've slain to protect you, we want a cut of the profits as well..."

Grimaldi pointed with his sword, to the remains on the passage floor.
