Making their way dowh the stairs Broderick instructs Smasher to toss the zombie bodies on the second landing into the corner with the others. Once this is done they continue down the staires. Broderick assists Smasher to dispatch the three remaining Zombies. Once dealt with he directs Smasher to these and the others in the water into the corner.
Assessing the room Broberick examines the obelisk's looking for a means to ignite the wood in their baskets.

The baskets are just the height that could be reached with a torch.

While Smasher is tossing zombie bodies in the corner Broderick rumbles through the backpack extracting a torch and tinderbox. Creating a spark he ignites the Torch and uses it to light the timber in the basket's.

As you light the first pile of kindling, the otyugh squeals and retreats.

As you light the second, a stream of gold coins spray out of the lion's mouth and into the pool.

ooc Otty's reaction to him lighting the first basket Broderick wouldn't have ignited the second

Ripples spread in the pool from under the stairs toward the front where the coins fell!

Broderick crossed to Otty resting a calming hand on it. Dearest Clair, or Mistress le Manifique, or Phylicity; be this some enchanted trap. he asked eyeing the pool and such warily.

Broderick alerts everyone about the tentacles, particularly Gaspard who's standing over the water and above whatever the creature is. Timeon we can use the Obelisk's as partial protection. he prompts Manoeuvring towards the first of these while directing Smasher to accompany him and Timeon.

ooc if and when its safe to do so he can slip across to the second.

From what he's seen of them do these tentacles look like they are the same as Otty's?

They are black and oily with suckers, and seem to be more of them than an Otty had.


Timeon ducks behind the obelisk and starts loading his crossbow.

This thing doesn't look at all friendly... Declares Broderick as ge quickly slipps behind the other Obelisk.

The swordsman backs up toward the central stair.

Heeding Broderick's caution Clair moves away from the entry to allow the warriors to provide some protection and be unimpeded. Holding up a hand she focuses, a small stone appears in her palm.

a tentacle wraps itself around Gaspard's Leg!

He stabs at it with his rapier, causing it to spray purplish ichor, but it doesn't let go!

Broderick peeks around the column, he was using as cover, just as it grabs Gaspard's leg Does anyone know anything about this type of creature? We need to know how many tentacles it has. he shouts.

Broderick directs Smasher to attack the creatures closest tentacle. He then moves to defend Smasher from any attacks it may direct against Smasher.

Most of your group resists the mental assault from the thing in the pool,
But Caruthers is slack jawed and trembling, Margeaux is stunned, and Gaspard loses his composure as a second tentacle wraps around his leg and pulls him off the ledge.


Timeon shoots into the space between the tentacles,

Frer Noe descends the staircase, chanting something.

Clair shakes off the mental assault countering it with a stone missile that strikes the body of the creature with an audible thud

Acting on the directions given Smasher advances on the tentacled beast swinging his maul into the writhing tentacle delivering such a solid blow that it appears to be squished against the ground.
