One of the men stands to appreciate the breeze, and smiles to see familiar faces, and the ox carts.

"Welcome friens! Are you here for the harvest?"

"Yes! We come on the behalf of Lord Sakemoko!"

"We met a great dragonfly nearby.. it stopped and landed on Chye here, and seemed to bless us. Have you witnessed such a thing here, before?"
Iskander asked the farmer in Sahudese.

In reply to Iskander (msg # 286):

"That is Akitsu-san, the protector of the village! It defends us against the viscious ka that seek the water. The ka surround us though, and keep the other great ones away."

"Chye shall call him Akitsu-sama then, in honor!"

"Now I understand. For it is by he alone, that permits this place to exist here at all, amongst the mega fauna,we've heard tell of, and have seen evidence of, along our journey. How do you pay your respects to your village benefactor, may I, a foreigner, ask?" Iskander was obviously fascinated and curious.

Finding his Sahudese, learned as an adult, failing him, Chou-Zhen speaks up.  "Pardon my interruption, but what is ka?  You cannot mean a game piece.  Do I have the tone wrong?"

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 290):

"Small biting insects, the small ones are hunted by small Akitsu... the ka are larger..."
He holds his hands about two feet apart.

"I wonder why everything around here is so large.."

"So, you have biting insects large enough to serve as prey for Akitsu-san, and call them ka.  We've seen tracks of rabbits as big as sheep, and wolves large enough to prey on them -- but we've seen this evidence only in the last day or so.

"Could this be an effect of the fallen sky-stone we passed?"

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 293):
"Hmm... That could well be a possibility."

In reply to Iskander (msg # 294):

The farmer shrugs."Ask the priest. He knows such things."

"A fine suggestion.  Where might we find the priest?"

Chye nodded in agreement."How about we take care of business first? Who's in charge of trade, and the rice crop?"

In reply to Chye Isuel (msg # 297):

"That would be the elder. He has the hut with the lantern."

In reply to Village laborer (msg # 298):
"Domo, friend!"
Chye waved, and headed towards the Elder's place.

"Where might we find the priest?"
Iskander asked, before following.

"Iskander, it seems Chye is impatient.  Let us take care of the Omo's business, as he said.  No doubt the elder will be able to direct us when we have concluded that."

In reply to Iskander (msg # 302):

An old man supported by a staff steps out of one of the huts. Those in his line of sight bow to him.

Chou-Zhen will follow suit, bowing deeply to the elder, but holding his silence for the moment.

Chye bows.
"We bid you greetings, elder-sama. On the behalf of Lord Sakemoko, we have have come to exchange goods for the rice."

In reply to Chye Isuel (msg # 305):

"That reprobate has owned up to his end of the bargain? it is about time! the warehouse is full of his rice, and empty of all things that bring savor. This alien land has not the comforts our ancestors enjoyed, and almost daily we are beset by random incursions of  the bizarre folk of this place. Come, be feasted, have some roast duck, and the last of our tea."

At the mention of food and tea, Chye is happy to oblige!

Chye correctly recalls and articulates the heraldry he encountered on monsieur hood's men, and  brings it up in the dinner conversation...
