Unable to see, Chye storms out of the commode, and toward the bathhouse. He throws his arms up, and a stream of curses follow him, as he goes to get the filth off his arm.

His queue lashing vigorously, Chou-Zhen continues peering into the privy while reaching up with his whip to feel for the door's lintel.  Once he touches the wood, he speaks a phrase he recently taught Ming-Sa, and the lintel blazes with light.

With all of the light, Chou-Zen can now see a faint shadow beside the rice, of a small goblin like creature

Chou-Zhen looks steadily at the little creature.

"Back in Northport, folk much like you are artisans, good neighbors.  Why must you behave as you do?"

OOC: Chye should also have had that bonus on the perception roll, no?

Iskander spots Chye, and watches him leave the commode, in his animated and vocal fashion.
Curious, he heads over to see what all the fuss is about...
"Chye, what goes on, here?"

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 412):

The shadow creature, which is still not quite visible, is far smaller than the bakemono of Northport. It might be two and a half feet tall, if it werent crouched near the opening in the floor, counting grains of rice.

The blessings of Akitsu-san were not quite enough to percieve the invisible Yokai until things became better lit.

Outside, Chye is on his way to the bath house to rinse away the stain the creature left on his arm, although the blessings of the dragonfly have saved him from sores and boils.

Miko, one of the neko whom travelled with you, is staring at the lantern...

"Iskander-san!, it licked Chye with it's filthy tongue! Chye threw "purify-rice" in there, to keep him busy, but it dark in there, Chye not see him! We go back! Chou-Zhen-san, making light in there, now!"
Chye uses soap and hot water, and washes away the nasty brown stain, on his lower arm.

Chou-Zhen waits two (of someone else's) heartbeats for a response from the Yokai.  If he gets none, he'll flip his leather whip close to the partially visible little creature and speak a word.

Ales, hearing the commotion at the latrine, moves from his patrol spot near the roads and heads as quickly as possible to the outhouse.  As it is growing quite dark, and he imagines fairly dark in the latrine itself, Ales casts flaming sword on his scimitar as he heads in to deal with this newest threat.

There is a shriek and a blast of light from within the latrine. Sparks shoot out through the door, under the eaves, and from under the foundation
(The floor is about a foot off the ground, and the holes in the floor drop into a pit below.


Chou-Zen  can see the blackened silhouette of the creature as it twitchp past thees and jerks, its yard long tounge flicking spazmodically as it is battered by electrical discharge... then it collapses in a blackened heap, its charred hair standing on end.

Meanwhile... Ales and Chye make per-2 checks as you step past the bathhouse on the way back to Chou-Zen

Iskander, make a per-2 roll as you move past one of the lamps on your way to the latrine.

Iskander stops, and notices something....

Chou-Zhen waits for the cloud of sparks (and the tiny lights) to expire, then steps inside the privy and to the side, so the light from the lintel shines full on the small creature.

His queue lashes vigorously as he looks up at Chye, Ales, and Iskander's approach.

"That was such a minor spell, yet the creature has died.  I believe the bright light actually harms them."

Ales is befuddled, unable to comprehend what has happened.
