"There's no need for alarm. Who are you? What are you looking for?"
14:23, Today: Chye Isuel rolled 10 using 3d6.  spirit lore default (sahudese get IQ-4, 12-4 8 or less...).
Chye was sure the woman was a yokai like the others about this night, but just what she was, he was uncertain. Her head was still attached, and stories he'd heard, the head floated freely about, separate from the body. Nonetheless, he tried to calm, and parley with her...

"Hmmm... Chye see what it so important to you then. It's still available, they just aren't filling the lamps with them any longer. If you need it, why not trade for it? As far as being stuck... Maybe you can leave your shoes in that spot, until the spell expires. If you need help, we can probably get you out of the glue."

"Indeed, once I know you are no threat and will not try to return to your ways of stealing resources the villagers need, I can release you immediately.

"What can you offer the village in return for the oil you require?  For instance, can you stretch your limbs, as well as your neck, so that you might be able to pick high fruit or perform roof repairs with your feet on the ground?"

In reply to Iskander (msg # 592):

The yokai is of a sort that passes for, and is often mistaken for human; they are considered to be near monstrous and have no social standing. They are known to sleepwalk, and drink oil when asleep. They are generally not as malign as their relatives, the manananggal.

Unfortunately, this one is greatly distressed, and lashes out at Chye : Dodge, parry or be entangled!

Hearing the shrieking and realizing it could draw unwanted attention, Ales thinks quickly about how to diffuse the situation. He begins chanting, and before long the sound of lullabies from the Sahud  fill the air.

"Good.. Good.. Now, Chye find some oil.. Then after Chye give it to her, maybe we can make arrangements so she won't have to steal it, anymore... That shouldn't be too hard, if she has valuable skills the village can use. Chye not eager to kill anyone."
Chye will seek a quantity of oil, sufficient as a peace offering.

Re: Rice Run

"Elder-sama, you might recall the issue of missing oil in the village. We found and trapped the culprit... It's a female yokai of a sort. Her neck extends as long as chye's polearm. However.. She doesn't appear to be evil, she just requires the oil to survive, or she becomes brittle, as she claims. I would suspect the thefts were either because she is too poor, or that buying the oil in quantities that she needs, would bring suspicion about her true nature. Now that has been revealed to you, you elder, are the one with the authority that should decide whether she be allowed to continue to stay here. She was frigtened at first, and attacked, but through magic, she has been calmed with music..."
