"Our concern is with the people you call 'swamp dwellers,', those Sahudese folk who grow the rice that feeds their cousins in Northport.  I do not foresee interfering in greater Veroigne.

"Still, we would be glad to find some of Hercule's retainers who might assist in protecting and succoring the rice growers."

Chou-Zhen lets the lightning whip fade.

"How we recognize these scattered cells?"
Chye inquired.

In reply to Chye Isuel (msg # 207):

Hood passes the coffer off to another of his men.
"Tell him he is sorely missed, and his people need him here.  You will find loyalists with this symbol, the green field, the black chevron, the red dots. Some may wear it openly, others may have a ring or a hidden piece of cloth.  We do what we can to keep the baron's men off them, but the swamp folk have their own issues"

"Thank you for bringing the situation to light. You are most honorable, Senyor. May Veroigne return to better times, and rulership. Farewell."

"Yes, now we know there's bad men. Let Chye catch these men take advantage of our women...Heads will roll, and the paddies will run red!"
Chye clangs his gauntlet to his chest piece, with steel in his tone.

The bowmen fade quickly out of sight.

"I am sure consorting with outlaws will make our mission even harder once we get to the village", Ales said, once the visitors had left.

"Yes! Now when we arrive, we not ignorant to what's afoot around these parts. It may have even been worth parting with the coffer."

"Who is to know? besides, the coffer was magically marked with the master's symbol, and can be traced by anyone with a copy of his seal.  Of course, there is another for the return trip.  I neglected to tell them about the soy sauce concentrate, or the sacks of sesame seeds and five spice blend that are inside the casks of bonito flakes and dried squid."

"I believe we have learned some important information from Monsieur Hood.  If there remains enough darkness, however, we should resume our rest."

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 219):

The sun rises in about half an hour. you have a feeling that there will be no foraging in these woods.  Oddly, there are almost no tracks, only your own.

Chye is up, and ready to go.
"Good morning."

"That was barely worth lying back down; I would likely have stayed up to practice castings, had I known.  Do none of us know how to tell the time of night from the stars and moon?"

In reply to Chou-Zhen Mou (msg # 222):

The catwoman points to a bright star near the horizon.
"That is the dawn star. The sky will be green shortly."

Ales packs his gear and prepares for another long day of traveling.

Iskander packs away his hammock and cloak, and is ready to get moving again.

Chou-Zhen, also, rolls up his bed and ensures his items are correctly packed.

"Have we breakfast?  If needed, I can make a fire without need to gather wood."

"We have our rations, but we could make rice... up to you. Chye always make time for rice!"

"If we can spare the time to cook it, rice would be a welcome addition to dried fish and pickled cabbage.  We can save a quarter hour, as the fire I create takes no time to build up."

"I'm not opposed to cooking some rice, and eating before moving on. I'll keep watch, while we do so."

Ales goes and finds a quiet area and meditates.

The rice takes about twenty minutes.  Everyone gathers to eat, somewhat warily.

Once the fire is heating the pot, Chou-Zhen will move out of the way and sit to rest from creating the water for the pot and the fire itself.
