Berry facepalms over this, but she decides not to say anything. Well, she tried her best to help Gareth get his afterlife planning in order, so she doesn't feel bad.

Gareth approaches the beggar in the marketplace, and drops the coin into his almsbowl.

Re: Near Al Menir

A couple minutes after Gareth donates to the beggar, Omar discretely walks up to the same beggar and places a silver into his bowl.  As he pulls his gloved hand back, he discretely grabs the coin that Gareth placed there.  He places it into an empty pouch and closes it up, and then returns to Haveron and the rest of the group.  Upon rejoining the rest of the group he hands the whole pouch to Haveron.

OOC Pausing here in case the GM wants to interject something.

Berry doesn't inform on Gareth when Gareth is right there (that would be rude), but she is planning to first chance she gets.

The blind man had touched the coin before Omar reached over with 5he silver, and Omar is close enough to see the pale murkiness of the man's pupils be washed away and made clear.
He looks in Omar's face with delight

Omar says nothing to the blind man at the time of the event.  Instead he puts the silver in the man's bowl, and palms the magical coin.

When he turns the coin over to Haveron, he pulls him aside to report what happened.

Re: Near Al Menir

Haveron says nothing when Omar tells him what happens, although his eyes widen almost imperceptibly with surprise.  His face turns thoughtful in the next few minutes, and he looks upwards as people will sometimes do when they are thinking deeply about a problem.

OOC Haveron will not say anything in the moment.  Gareth is already back in with his friend, and it seems better to let him resolve that before addressing this next item.

In reply to Omar El Nasib (msg # 263):

"The weapon is Safyr Alriyh, sword of the wind. It cuts through armor easily, and has q bite to it. Many have come my way, at either end of the blade. This shield bears a mild defensive enchantment, and this amulet is proof against arrows, one need merely speak its name and give some energy. Now I guess we work out what to do with them. I would like the shield...though it's weight concerns me."

The shield is medium, and lightened. It weighs 9lbs and has a DB of 2+1 (only 2 vs meteoric iron etc.)

Berry lingers, (and informs on Gareth!) before catching up with him. "I'll vote for you getting the shield. If that's how this works. The sword seems cool, but it would probably be a while before I'm able to use it. Amulet against missiles is nice, but I'm guessing I have that spell already."

Re: Near Al Menir

Haveron looks over the items, and takes a moment to process the various perspectives of the group.  Many would be interested in items enchanted with magic, and there was no fair way to divvy up items of this worth.  The problem had many facets worth consideration.

After a moment of thought, Haveron responds.  "I would like to see Omar receive the sword.  He looks interested in it, but it is more than that.  He will be charged with protecting Amelia when we encounter hostiles, and I consider him to be part of my retainer.  In my opinion it benefits all of us to keep the sword in our possession.

As such, I recommend that he not be included in any profit we make in our upcoming exploration, unless we make enough to cover the weapon and then some. If we don't make enough to cover the sword, then I will offer to take whatever we come up short out of my share, and even Amelia's if need be.  In the long run, I consider the benefit to all of us to be worth the cost.  If anyone objects to this, we can reconsider the allocation.

As for the amulet and shield, I don't know who they would best serve.  The Adept, yourself Berry, Shroud, and even Amelia are all viable suggestions.  I think we should decide on who gets the shield and the amulet as a group.  If we cannot decide on the best use of the items, then we will resort to lots.

I hear that Berry and Gareth are both interested in the shield.  Who is interested in the amulet?"

Re: Near Al Menir

Shroud follows along as the group investigates the very nature of their spoils.  Literally with his person and figuratively with his attention.   When the issue comes to the fore of who will take ownership the outdoorsman simply holds up the flat of a hand and waves it gently, as if shooing away a second or third helping of food.

OOC:
Shroud 2.0's primary weapon is a bow and he doesn't have need of a shield.  Since I the new player wasn't around I feel the spoils should go to active players on the last mission.  I think the group would be best served by the healer having the amulet.

Re: Near Al Menir

In reply to Adept Yisslitheniss (msg # 272):

"If Gareth wants to hold on to the shield, that would be fine, as few of us can use one. I appreciate Omar having the blade to defend us, and as the Adept is our primary healer, the amulet in his possession would benefit us all by preserving him. Now, we need to get provisions for the way back. It took a week to get here with the caravan, and I don't know how far our proposed destination is. We will have to plan on at least another weeks worth of food. Without Horvath, Haveron, Omar, and the Adept are our front line fighters, and Shroud is missile support. If Berry can, um, create another attack dog as needed, that would be great. Gareth, try not to murder everyone."
[Private to Berry: your allies improve with you. Var gets a point, maybe to boost his Valdassyan to more than rude words. Tralfaz gets the perk "magic touch" which lets him attack creatures harmed only by magic weapons. His next power up should be Unholy Touch, so he can bite angels]
