The large woman leans down to hear you better, and seems slightly confused. She is three yards tall, and her sheep are st shoulder height to you.

Amelia will put up her hand in a gesture meant to signify "wait", then return to Mubark.  "Do we have anyone that speaks Valdassyan?  I do not."

If a translator can be arranged, Amelia will return to the sheperdess and re-ask her question.  "Hail Ogress.  The caravan I am part of would like to purchase 2 of your sheep for our evening meal.  Would you have any that you can share with us?"

In response to what he says, Amelia responds "Well, Mubark, do you happen to have a seamstress with the caravan?  Perhaps we can make her one?  I don't know that we have the skill among our number.  Gareth can singe it if she wants a black dress.  Sounds like it might not work out.  Perhaps we should return to our caravan then, if we don't have the materials necessary.  Do you think it's worth haggling more?"

$20 for a seamstress for the day, $72 for a bolt of blue cloth. not a bad deal for an animal worth $200.

Amelia will think for a moment, causing a brief silence between the two of them.  Then, with something of a twinkle in her eye, she smiles and tells Mubark  "Ask her if she's willing to come down for measurements.  We ought to be able to make her look pretty for not much extra time.  I mean, to attract the eye of an eligible Ogre, that's a lifetime of joy there.  She ought to jump at the chance if we have a couple people working just for her.

One of us can help out with the flock, if she trusts us with the work.  I mean, the caravan won't be moving, and we have people skilled with horses.  The sheep should be manageable, and we can help out as needed.

How about we split the coin for the seamstress and the bolt of cloth, and ask her for 2 of the sheep since we're going to make it pretty for her.?  You think she'd do it for that?"

OOC if appropriate, I rolled fast talk or merchant, whichever you judge appropriate.

[Private to GM: 13:38, Today: Secret Roll: Amelia Montaigne rolled 8 using 3d6.  Merchant/Fast Talk, whichever is appropriate.]

Haveron shrugs as he turns to walk back to the caravan proper.  "No one said you had to pay Gareth, but if you choose not to then you're on your own for dinner.  I expect mutton will taste far better than whatever you could come up with.  It's your decision to make.  Mubark and I decided it was worth the investment, but most seem to agree it's a good one."

These animals are larger than cows... the purchase price for one is normally something like $1200, and you can get something like 500 rations plus the enourmous shearling.

Haveron returns to the caravan, confident that Mubark and Amelia can handle any remaining loose ends in the transaction.  He does approach the members of his group to take a small collection based on what they expect to pay for their animal.

OOC I'll leave the final math until the transaction is complete, but we should only be out about 5 silvers apiece, based on our number being around 10 total?

Revised totals: it is about $200 worth of dyed cloth being made into a shift dress.

The seamstresses work quickly, and the shepherdess is beaming about her new look
(She is still wearing a shearling vest, forearm and shinguards)

She definitely attracts Gorgoth's eye.

Haveron will gather 1 silver from everyone in the group (as I said, I thought I counted 10).

On the way past Gorgath, Halveron will quietly mention "The only reason we get to have mutton tonight is because you caught her eye.  I could arrange for you to not have a watch tonight, if you might want the evening off."

While the thought of Ogres and Ogresses being together was not something Halveron wanted to think about, he also wanted Gorgath to be happy.

In reply to Gorgath (msg # 118):

The mutton dinner goes very well, with the ogres getting uncomfortably romantic.
In the morning, Gorgath is gone.

You make your way through the coffee fields to the gates of sumptuous Al Menir.  The blue tiled walls are beautiful, the rose colored minarets and brazen domes are spectacular, and the land around it is lush, thanks to a pair of rivers flowing down from the western mountains. In the foothills the current is rapid, but here the water is still enough for fishermen or pole and sail barges to make their way to the city to trade.
The bundles of lavender and thyme, the assorted goblin metalcraft, and bolts of silk from the weaverfolk that your wagons carry will sell well here, in the trinket shops and souks.
It has been a long trip to the city, where you can rest, re-arm, and regroup before returning to the mountains to search for the hidden citadel.
Sorsha and her cabinet maker cousin intend to explore the city.  Gorgath is gone. Gareth needs boots, his sandals destroyed by the journey.

Each of you who have been here for the trip get four CP, and learn Valdassyan at broken, those who already had it broken, now have it accented.

Can items that hold power be recharged? If so, how much?

Also, how much cash do we get?

[Private to GM: Can armour be charged with 5 points ($650)? Could a $20 gem be added to bring it to $670 to hold 6 points?]
