In reply to Omar El Nasib (msg # 321):

"What is this? A woman dares tell me what to do? That makes two, and a foreign bitch needs the same! And you? I know you from a stain on the wall. My honor? You keep company with beasts and foreign devils. Like these women, you forget your place in the world."

The adept takes a half step to the left front so he is on line with Berry ... he says nothing, but turns the sword edge from side to side to front to rear, point still up.

Omar smirks at the man's response.  "You'd do well to listen to the woman, you son of a mule.  She'd have you dead or worse inside of 2 steps.  Now, unhand the lady and behave in a civilized manner, and whatever dispute you have can be resolved peacefully.  Holding a knife to a woman's throat like that is the mark of a coward."

The man quickly reveals himself as the exact sort of person Berry would want to put in his place.

Overselling me a bit Berry whispers, before speaking up to the man Look, your outnumbered and we all either have magical firepower, plenty of experience with weapons, or both. The only way this ends well for you is if you just peacefully walk away.

In reply to Omar El Nasib (msg # 326):

The ruffian withdraws the knife, and shoves the woman to the side, where she falls, even as he yanks off her head scarf, further dishonoring her.

He points the knife at Omar.

Re: Near Al Menir

Omar's eyes go wide as the man casually dishonors the woman, as if she is nothing more than an animal. He instinctively takes a step towards him, furious at the dishonor.  But he has a choice to make, and instead of ritual combat he chooses instead to honor the woman.

He quickly moves to her side, and turns his back on her to avert his gaze from her dishonor.  As he does, yells "FORM A SHIELD!", intending to lead the people in the area to protect the woman from view.

OOC I saw the soccer team do this in that youtube video, and it was super awesome that they did.  Perhaps not the most appropriate thing for Omar to do (as a man), but I'm a bit charmed by the gesture in real life.

As he sees this play out, Haveron cannot help but be touched by the gesture.  He doesn't know the culture, or the local customs, but he can see that Omar has taken the high road in the moment.  As a measure of respect, he steps forward, with his sword now drawn.  His voice is as cold as the winter's snow as he glares at the man, and his icy stare contains nothing but malice.

"My companion has chosen to honor the woman who you treated as a dog.  He deserves to be honored for the gesture.  I challenge you to ritual combat in his stead.  Choose your weapon wisely."

"Pretty sure he is following the prophet's advice. At least better than... " Berry sighs. It had turned into Male Ritual Combat. Formal Male Ritual Combat. Now she wanted someone to rant to. She goes over to help the woman up. "Well, its turned into some absurd male pride thing now. " she tries to keep one eye on the thug too, ready to start blasting if she needed to intervene.

Berry offers an Elf Bread cracker to the woman. "Want one?" Berry's Super-Ego is metaphorically crying.

The adept turns the blade to flat and strikes to hit the mans head.

[Private to GM:  20:43, Today: Adept Yisslitheniss rolled 14 using 3d6.  Strike to head - limited force.  skill 17 ... target dodged?
20:45, Today: Adept Yisslitheniss rolled 7 using 2d6.  two handed sword damage.  but pretty sure he missed...

Gareth hangs back through all of this, but he readies a spell just in case this idiot thinks fighting is a good idea, muttering something about the man being sick...

Gareth can make his own food, so he travels light, with just a few rations for emergencies.

[Private to GM: Cast spell sicknesses, rolled 10 under skill, but is currently holding the spell.
Is he able to learn the spell continual light from the scroll, or does he have to learn light first?

[Private to Gareth: you learned continual light,  but will be at -4 to cast it 7ntil you eather learn the spell or drop a point on the "Alternate Path" perk. You have a fistful of sick.]

The man drops into a fighting crouch, his eyes on Omar, just in time for the adep's greatsword to skim over his turban.

[Private to Berry: Var whispers in your ear,"Good, good, letbthe anger flow through you! Toss one a dem bolts at his dangly bits! Dat oughta stun him, since he's tinking wit da smol head"]

[Private to GM: That sound fine. He will accept the penalty for now, having learnt the spell. His jo is actually his staff, but light weight version!]

Burke and Shroud continue to do the same.  Them getting involved would seem to be overkill so they will continue with their previous instructions.  Burke is going to simply watch but be ready to intervene.  Shroud has his bow ready and an arrow knocked, but there is no tension and its pointed at the ground.

Once in position, Omar draws steel, but holds himself in a purely defensive posture.  In his eyes protecting the woman's honor is more important than chastising the man.  His companions could do that well enough without him.

OOC All out defense parry/dodge if attacked.

[Private to GM: Anyone helping to protect the woman?]

Ooc: I thought our wayward martial artist would show and deal with this, but no.

The man drops into a fighting crouch, his eyes on Omar, just in time for the adep's greatsword to skim over his turban.

OOC: Right on queue.

Ryojin watched as things played out, measuring the brute who was threatening the woman, seeing how he moved, talked, acted. Ryojin puts himself between the man and the group protecting the woman.

He watches as the Adept swings his sword and barely misses the mans head, looks like he can move some. He does not like ganging up on one person, it does nothing to further his training.

"If you all would allow me. I wish to take care of this one, alone. To show you my worth."

He slides his left foot in an inward semi-circle forward, and raises his hands in an almost lazy fashion. His left hand forward, arm still bent, and his right hand almost resting under his chin. He dips his hips slightly, weight on the balls of his feet. His eyes seem to widden and narrow at the same time, a small grin on his face. He is easily within reach of the man, or more importantly, the man is within reach of him.

OOC: begin to evaluate the man, if I can get up to 3 then yay!

Ryojin waits till the last moment, when the blade is moving past his reach, he slides his forward hand to the mans wrist and shifts it slightly to the outside while stepping back, following the mans flow. the blade is barely an inch away from him when all is said and done.

With this distance Ryojin lets out a Kiai with his chi, attempting to stun the man.

ooc:

Retreating Karate parry 14, success by 0.

Quick Contest: Kiai vs. target’s Will. I succeeded by 4 (Kiai 14).
