Re: Near Al Menir

In reply to Bechazruhk Burke (msg # 448):

Gareth just looks at Shroud and shrugs. While the others are considering a campsite, he creates some food from the local plants, handing 7 meals out to others as he does so, but keeping the last meals for himself. Shroud Ryojin, Berry, Amelia, Bourke, Omar and Haveron, get offered meals, before he asks if anyone else wants any.

"I am sorry, Adept, but I am not sure that you will enjoy this, as there is no meat in it. But I can make you some if you want."

[Private to GM: Rolled, in order, 7, 13, 12 12, Natural 3, 10, 10, 10 and 12 under skill. He will keep the natural 3 result for later, and have one other meal himself.]

Re: Near Al Menir

After looking over both camp sites, it occurs to Haveron that he hasn't used all of his resources well.  Burke has offered him an alternative to the normal camping option, but that wasn't everything that he wanted.  Haveron's eyes look up into the air as he things for a few seconds, and then he responds to the man, absently brusing an errant leaf off his shoulder as he does.

"I will entertain the thought of camping by the river if you can protect us as you say.  However, I would feel more comfortable if your companion...  Feylin I think... were to have a good look around first.  Is that something he or the two of you could do?  Maybe take along Shroud in case of trouble?"

When Gareth hands out food, he accepts a ration, although he can't say he completely trusts the man.  He still responds politely with a "thank you".

Burke nods and answers with a smile, ”Sure thing Cap'n.  Com'on Feylan.  You too Joker.”

OOC:
Burke will take Feylan and Shroud out on a wide radius casual search of the area.  About 50 yards out from the center of the proposed camp to see what he can see.  Looking for signs of recent hostiles traveling through, or anything else to worry about.

Re: Near Al Menir

Berry will take a meal, rather than create one herself. She will however, cast one essential food spell using the a convenient stick or some grass. She can create two meals since she's starting with something organic. Her store of essential food is back to normal!

18:15, Today: Berry rolled 13 using 3d6.  Berry uses essential food!

Ryojin accepts the meal offer, he knows that food should never be turned down or wasted. A full stomach means you can fight for longer.

In reply to Ryojin (msg # 454):

The camp selected is the one the lizard priest found, which is defensible, the other by the stream was far too open, and smoke from a fire would ve seen from a distance.

Tracks of small animals have been near recently, including something around the size of a fox. There are some older tracks from a large feline.

Burke is exhausted by, but pleased with his efforts.

Gareth, I need you to roll and see if you crit again, but that definitely costbyou no energy.

Re: Near Al Menir

OOC Haveron will participate in and oversee the set up of camp.  He'll also volunteer to take the initial watch with one of the more magically inclined characters.  His first choice would have been Burke so they can get to know each other more, but he looks exhausted after scouting camps.  Thus, he will leave it to volunteers.

In Haveron's opinion there should be 4 watches due to the larger number of people with the suggested pattern below.  However, he'll do what makes the most sense if there are objections or suggestions.

Haveron Amelia
Ryujin Gareth
Adept Shroud
Omar Burke

Did I forget anyone or anything?

OOC:
Shroud and Burke are happy to watch where ever they are needed.

Burke got exhausted from his intense prayer to make a protective fog that covers the camp in a shimmering, glowy blanket.

In reply to Bechazruhk Burke (msg # 460):

With the watches set, you settle in for the night. Nothing penetrates the fog, but on the third watch, the yipping of a small canid creature can be heard... followed by a low coughing growl and a squeal that is cut off sharply.

Re: Near Al Menir

Shroud stands as he is alerted to the sound of a small yipping canine and the suddenness of it ceasing.  He is concerned, but not worried just as the Adept is.

The scout quickly snatches an arrow from his quiver and loads it with lightning speed as the healer draws near and whispers something. Shroud responds immediately.  ”The yip was natural...but given that we're camping in the backyard of a wizards tower who knows if the thing that silenced that yip is.  Do you have any kind of magic that can let us see or know what is out there?”

Bow is loaded and Ready.  Stay within the protective fog.  Stay about 3 hexes in to stay hidden from stuff outside.  Wait to see how the Adept responds.  Shroud's general feeling at this point is that if whatever the thing is that ended the yip, if its going to leave us alone no sense in venturing out into the dark to deal with it.  If it came from the wizards tower then likely we'll be seeing it again soon.  On better terms hopefully.

OOC:
I'm fine with waiting to see if the mysterious yip stopper is going to do anything worth reacting to.  If not then wake the 4th watch when its time and report what we heard.

You are about half a day from the place you remember Gareth setting thr chaparral  ablaze... can't remember why though.

Are we waiting for the end of the spell, or leving the protected area? (You can reenter safely)

OOC:
Shroud will not leave the Myst and will stay far enough inside as to not be seen by outsiders.  I'm waiting for an event that requires me to take some action where the GM needs to step in.  Such as an attack by some foe or say someone approaches and asks for help because their life is in danger.  If no such event occurs then just observe and then report to the 4th watch when its time to cross over shifts.

Re: Near Al Menir

Haveron will oversee and participate in breaking camp (which includes breakfast, etc).  As they work away he'll comment to the Adept "Good choice", and add in "Thanks for the fog" to Burke (when he finds the right moment).

After everyone is ready to go, Haveron will take the front of the group with Burke.  He'll want Gareth close, since he was the other person who penetrated whatever spell was set on the head of the path.  In his judgement a good read guard would be Shroud with the Adept.  Everyone else can string out in the middle, although he'll want Omar protecting Amelia should they encounter trouble.

Re: Near Al Menir

As the rugged outdoor man wakes he finds himself well rested.  Rummaging through his pack he pulls some salted meat and hard biscuits.  He breaks a corner off his cheese block and sets about eating while making light conversation with his partner, Omar.

When morning comes he wakes the others and is happy to report that whatever got the yipper did not trouble them.  Burke responds pleasantly to the compliment from Haveron.  ”It's a might handy prayer Cap'n, 'specially when yer all alone.  Usually it's just me an' Feylan.  It's nice that I can get more use out'ta it.”

OOC:
Before we leave the area take Feylan and try to find the location where the mysterious predator was.  Attempt to find some clues such as size, number, what it was, etc.
