"Charlene, you've met Otty, haven't you?  Just one of several ways, but they're all a lot of work.  Bodies are heavy!"

In reply to Clarence Montague (msg # 65):

"We met one walking around loose. He was about the size of a grown hog (about 600lbs), although a little taller, and I had the feeling it was a little small or young yet. I think the grown ones bulk as much as an ox, but I hear they are really ornery. I think it might be better to just wall them up. At least from what Razakeel said, they can't be made into undead."

"Oh, you meant wall up Otty?  Why would we do that?  He doesn't seem dangerous, or not any more so than an ox or a big hog.  I thought you were talking about walling up the" -- he looks around and lowers his voice -- "bodies."

"That's what I was suggesting.  Of course, I hadn't thought of them coming back -- don't you get spirits of some kind if the bodies are destroyed but still aren't properly buried?  Ghosts, maybe?"

"I think I'd rather deal with ghulas than spirits.  A couple arrows in the brain and a ghula goes down and stays down.  How do you shoot a ghost?"

"I didn't mean to wall up the otty, just the bodies. Razakeel said the cultists couldn't be reanimated because their souls were gone, so no ghosts either. As for smell, a little quicklime goes a long way. Didn't Nodwin say he could shape stone?"

"Yep. I just shape it the old fashioned way. Slow, noisy, but works every time, and never expires. Souless cultists? Sounds like the sort of people my cousin can deal with, in her own way, god bless her."

"Hers is bolts and knives. You sound like kindred spirits. Just stick to the soulless cultists, if you don't mind."

He frowns.

"Back to working on these foundations..."

"Well,I can't promise to always stick to soulless cultists, but as far as I know, I've never killed anyone who wasn't either directly threatening me or working on something much worse than that.

"Please, we have several refugees who have nothing to do, as they just arrived.  Only so many people can clean and organize.  Please feel free to enlist their aid if you need to.  Most will not mind at all, as they are just happy to have a roof over their heads.  You should find them willing, and even enthusiastic."

OOC Not sure if Nodwin is there or still out and about on business, but he would have said this now or the last time he was present, so the content is valid.

In reply to Benito Drake (msg # 82):

Architecture lets you spot instability, but not correct it.

You can tell that the structures around this "park" or sacred grove or whatever it is may be at risk for collapse if there is not some kind of reinforcement to the foundations. Some of the tilting buildings can be shored up with beams, and unskilled labor is fine for that.

Then below he will go, but before he does he will arrange for some of the workers to get ready to pass down equipment as needed. After hearing the stories, he will take his crossbow and quiver on his back, and his sickle and armour and ask for some help to carry the stoneworkers kit down with him.

Any rolls to be made? I rolled 5 rolls just to expedite things...looks like work should progress well. Or combat...whatever the rolls are needed for!

"This would really be better if Jareth were here.  And Jocelyn. And Mellarill.  But since they aren't, I'll come along, I can at least point out where not to go.  Our own basement has limited accesses, but if you wander too far down there, you might run into God knows what."
