"Well,I can't promise to always stick to soulless cultists, but as far as I know, I've never killed anyone who wasn't either directly threatening me or working on something much worse than that.

"Please, we have several refugees who have nothing to do, as they just arrived.  Only so many people can clean and organize.  Please feel free to enlist their aid if you need to.  Most will not mind at all, as they are just happy to have a roof over their heads.  You should find them willing, and even enthusiastic."

OOC Not sure if Nodwin is there or still out and about on business, but he would have said this now or the last time he was present, so the content is valid.

Architecture lets you spot instability, but not correct it.

You can tell that the structures around this "park" or sacred grove or whatever it is may be at risk for collapse if there is not some kind of reinforcement to the foundations. Some of the tilting buildings can be shored up with beams, and unskilled labor is fine for that.

Then below he will go, but before he does he will arrange for some of the workers to get ready to pass down equipment as needed. After hearing the stories, he will take his crossbow and quiver on his back, and his sickle and armour and ask for some help to carry the stoneworkers kit down with him.

Any rolls to be made? I rolled 5 rolls just to expedite things...looks like work should progress well. Or combat...whatever the rolls are needed for!

"This would really be better if Jareth were here.  And Jocelyn. And Mellarill.  But since they aren't, I'll come along, I can at least point out where not to go.  Our own basement has limited accesses, but if you wander too far down there, you might run into God knows what."

In reply to Mario Crowfoot (msg # 90):

The hole in the wall, about a yard accross, was first opened by Brodak, and leads into areas of a sensitive nature, of which Mario and Clarence are well aware.  As the bricks were unstable enough to be knocked through, they are certainly in need of reinforcement, and as an opening, could do with the placement of a lintel and posts, or at least an arch, especially if a lockable door is to be eventually placed here.

Beyond that is a chamber you know to have a buckled wall... first things first. Jareth needs to approve entrance thaere, unless Nodwin decides it is alright.

"Benito, we can't let you past here for now.  I'd say go ahead and start getting this wall ready for a sturdy door with a lock and bar -- on this side -- and we can talk to Jareth and Nodwin about what to do beyond here.

"There's work that needs to be done just beyond here, but start with this.  It should keep you busy until we can talk to the leaders."

Mario takes up a position with a clear shot into the room beyond Brodak's hole, and checks the light stone tied to the upper nock of his bow (I think it should still be lit; it was good for a week or more, but don't recall the day count since Nodwin made it).

The light stone should be good for about three days more. There is a faint scuttling sound from somewhere past the opening.

Mario approaches the doorway, moving his light stone around to look for the source of the sound.

"Clarence, is that your leggy friend?  Or one of, um, her relatives?"

"Loose, Benito."

With those words, Mario pulls the arrow from his quiver, nocks, draws, and looses, all in the space of a heartbeat.
