He takes his bullet back and sets it aside in his pack for some adjustments so it will fly straight.

Noticing the gesture, Hogarth makes sure he looks in that direction, as well as others...

Goran is already guarding the group from the direction where the noise is coming from.  His morningstar is already on fire, and he has shed his pack so he's prepared to fight.  A quick survey behind him shows that others have missile weapons ready to fire, so he settles in, on guard, to face whatever may come.  Privately, he is quite sure he can handle whatever may come, but if the rest of the group wants to feel useful...  He can accept that.

Goran is prepared for the onslaught.  As he waits calmly for his foe to clear the woods, he prays silently to Hors for protection.

Goran sees the creature coming out of the foliage.  He's ready for the beast, and prepares to strike.  As the giant bird lifts a claw, Goran thinks it is going to take another step.  Instead, it lashes out, catching him a bit by surprise.

[Private to GM: Well, this could indeed be another critical fail.  At the very least, it's a bad failure.

Goran is amazed that the bird thing managed to grab him in a talon.  He struggles to break free as well as he can.
