Hunting for a specialty shop

Grimaldi looks at Sederic and looks back at the other group, slightly amused at the brush-off. "Let's just sit back and see what sort of fools they fall in with. Maybe they'll end up like Broderick and company.." Grimaldi folded his arms, and leaned back in his chair.

Hunting for a specialty shop

"Fortunately for my appetite, the vow I took isn't so restrictive.  I vowed not to eat meat.  And because I foresaw problems, I negotiated the vow not to forbid eating hidden meat, or meat I can't see.  Other animal products, like milk, cheese, and eggs, not included.  Fish is a gray area, but I wasn't a big fish fan anyway.

"Master Rethki said it would help with my magic, but now I think it was just an elf's version of a practical joke.

"Master Albrecht never said anything about diet, other than constantly harping about balancing something he called 'carbs' against fats and 'protina' -- I never did get the explanation of what 'carbs' and 'protina' were, but there was a list of foods that provide each, and meat was on the 'protina' side.  Lots of other stuff, too, though -- eggs, dairy, beans, nuts.  So, as long as I get a chunk of cheese, a couple eggs, or a bowl full of beans of some kind every day, lack of meat won't weaken me.

"And this hot brown has just enough to leave the taste, so every day I get my bowl and pick out the meat bits.

"You want these?"

Ardenas pushes the little pile of meat bits into his spoon and holds them out.  "In the bowl, or on the side?"

In reply to Sederic (msg # 11):

The distractable mage looks up from the spread of colorful cards in front of him.
"The primary thing which I know about coins, is that I require more of them to be entering my purse than departing. A situation that would encourage this circumstance is highly desireable, but I fear, not in the cards for me today... although the Devil seems to be."

OOC: nobody actually possesses any of said coins, Grimaldi and Sederic saw them in Martin's possession, down at the abbatoir... Grimaldi got a good enough look at them though, to compare them to some research he'd done...
"I'd suggest going down to the abbatoir, and talking to Martin, if you'd like a look at them... I think they may be elder script, but without proper reference materials, I cannay be for certain... I know who and where there seems to be a source of them, however... and from all accounts, there's some peril involved... But what is this shop, you speak of? Sounds like my kind of place..."

"I dinnay care for demons so much, but odd and ancient items and artifacts interest me.. As to the coins, they were brought in by some red-skinned goblins that had strange auras and scars on their heads, as if they had been experimented upon. They have some sort of enclave down below, with a secret door, and a strange key that opens it.. Apparently, from accounts given us by the rope guild, they have some pretty dangerous magic at their disposal. I think they may be minions of something far more sinister than working in maintenance...maybe a dark one."
Grimaldi responded to the leprechaun, casually.

Ardenas picks up his bowl and comes over to where Aoife and the other two are talking.

"Red goblins?  I seem to recall Oly and me running across a couple of those, along with someone I remember as an elf, a few weeks ago when we were working with Mythos Songau.  They were sculpting some black sand into columns and then the taller fellow did something magical and the stuff hardened.  Seemed as if they were reinforcing the tunnel in that area.

"Don't recall exactly where this was, but it was fairly close to the new lift platform Mythos built down there."

Grimaldi hesitated a moment, and grunted audibly.
"I suppose I could...But I'm looking for work, and spectacles *Mancini* over there, doesn't seem so keen on sharing any news...So why should I help your group? I'll tell you this much though, I don't think they are related, but two separate phenomena."

In between bites of his salad lightly dressed with vinegar and olive oil, something much better than the mysterious bowl of hot brown they served most of the Guild members, Mancini looks up and sees his crew conversing with the same two who had tried to interrupt him on the way to his meeting.

He leaned over to another member and ,after nonchalantly pointing at Sederic and Grimildi whispered, "What's the deal with those two? They seem useful pawns enough if you ply them with steady work, but can they be trusted?"

In reply to Mancini (msg # 34):

They seem reasonably reliable, they walked out on the late Broderick Liebert, but not during the expedition that left only a hired mage as a survivor. They avoid the more disreputable members of the guild, and recently did some simple guard work for Ashbury. Both are fighting spellcasters, and one has an apparently cursed sword that dances.

Mancini quietly asks Norman to properly bring the two gentlemen over so they can be introduced. He hoped to get a better sense of the two men before offering the job, since all Ludlow seemed to do was whine about "having to clean up his spellroom" or some such nonsense.

"Among other things, but this is what we're currently under contract to do, yes.  Likely to involve a need for Seeker or similar location finding magic, detection, and something that can incapacitate spellcasters."

Ardenas lifts his bowl to push the last of the hot brown into his mouth, then drops the bowl and spoon back on the table.  he chews and swallows.

"I'm not used to seeing very competent spellcasters with armor and swords -- I would have expected the lack of specialization to be a limiting factor."
