Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 364):

"A full accounting of the divinites and their descendants, aspects and enemies comes close to this figure. Enough new entities are created through misinterpretation and mistranslation as to account for the others. Many are transient in scope.
Oooh! A temporal gate has just opened, but it is not proximate, or novel in any way.
A portable transdimensional space with variable location, and infernal association... so common. Yes, one is extremely proximate, and has a variety of infernal entities present."

Several images are included; a square surmounted by a circle, so that there are 4 triangles outside the circle; one glows white.

A peculiar lined figure collapsing in on itself and forming other configurations,  with about seven small moving parts that look like evil runes.

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Mancini grabs his sketchbook and scribbled down the visions from Ymid. Once complete, he shows them to the group. "Is this what you saw?"

As he shows the group, he thinks about if he is aware of any of the symbols and/or their meaning.

This being could seem to access and analyze information without a visible library, which was an incredible feat of the mind, no doubt aided by the device, it carried. Grimaldi saw the potential of having such allies, as well as opportunities for some potentially profitable endeavors.

Since no one has answered him on the water question yet, Nodwin asks the Ymid "Can you lead us to where the Infernals are currently located?  With our additional people, we can probably intervene with whatever they are currently doing and prevent it.  While this may not be important to you because you come from a different home, it is important to us."

In reply to Kalima (msg # 371):

The creature pulls back its head, revealing a monstrous, enormous eyeball without signs of any other features.

After exchanging a long piercing stare with the three eyed giantess, it turns its back to her and raises its tablet, pressing another stud and releasing a flash of light.
An image of the two of them together fills the front of the device.

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Nodwin shrugs his shoulders and raises his free arm quizzically.  He had no idea what was going on.  Shaking his head, he contorts his face into a confused look, but then moves on with the topic at hand.  "We don't want to track demons.  We feel like we need to, because they kill our people, and taint our homes.  All we are asking for is a bit of help, if you are willing to provide it.

Ummm...  She might appreciate the help too..."
Nodwin gestures at the 4 armed horror standing not far away as he says this.

"Ow!"  Ardenas, from his aerial position, flaps one gloved hand in the air, then holds it in front of his face to inspect a wisp of smoke coming from a finger.

"I thought we had an unusual companion!  What a pair they make!"

"Say, did someone down there say something about water?  I don't think I can get this beam all the way out before my spell runs out, and I'm too tired to do this again."  Going against what he just said, he returns to trying to smother the fire on the rafter.

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Nodwin nods to the person floating in the air, and then asks "Are there any containers around that we could use to hold water?  Maybe they have something back in the kitchen?"

The conversation with the Ymid was fascinating, but after taking a minute to look up, Nodwin decides the fire might be more important.

He'll look around for something to put water in.

OOC If this is a tavern, they should have some sort of liquid available for the patrons, right?  If nothing else, beer or ale would put out the flames.

This tavern doesn't look like it has served customers since the plague.

There is however a barrel lying on its side that might hold water.

Nodwin approaches the barrel to take a look.  In response to the question he says "I'm not sure we can make that decision.  We're new to the situation, and don't know what connects to this building.  Maybe it would be good to let it burn, but how much of the city would it take with it?  I didn't look around when we hustled in here.  We were far more concerned with keeping our friend out of the public eye.  You guys were here before us.  What do you think?"

OOC if the belief is that we should save the building, Nodwin will create water into the barrel.  6 gallons out to be enough.  Then he will need to rest.

In reply to Nodwin Zideqick (msg # 378):

While this place showed signs of corruption, it is not the epicenter of the taint. The tavern shares a wall with a pair of row houses.
Six gallons might be enough.

"Please invoke your gods to help us put out the fire. While I would love to never see this place standing again, there are other buildings attached and potentially innocent people living there."

Mancini thought for a second. "Perhaps there is a lower key way of stopping the taint of evil from spreading from this place?"

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Nodwin steps to the barrel and prays.  As he mumbles the name Vejovis is audible, but the rest is spoken quietly. Then, it is done.  Water appears in the barrel with a bit of a splash.  Nodwin looks tired, but not haggard.  With a subtle nod towards Mancini he gestures to the barrel, even taking a small scoop of water to apply to his face.  Then he leans on his staff and walks over to a part of the wall that looks reasonably clean and isn't on fire, and sits down against it.

Ardenas descends, still hovering, but now just above the floor.

"I don't know precisely how long I still have, but I can maintain this spell for another minute, perhaps two at most.

"Quickly then, start soaking things, rags and such, in the water and toss them up to me.
"

As if to demonstrate, he plunges his gloved hands into the barrel, then rises back up to the burning rafter and resumes patting at the edges of the fire with the wet gloves.

Mancini waits for the rest of the group to finish putting out the fire, before going over to the remaining water and after praying to the benevolent gods and goddesses to help arrest the flow of evil into the physical domain.

Mancini takes the blessed water and sprinkles it around the room, believing in and willing the power of the benevolent deities to expel the evil from the place.

Once he finishes the ceremony, he takes a seat near Nodwin, Mancini, too needing to rest.
