Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

After spending a total of two or three minutes floating near the burning rafter, dipping his gloves into the floating water barrel and using them to smother the fire and transfer water, Ardenas gently descends and staggers over to the wall where Nodwin is resting, only to be joined shortly by Mancini.

"I'm going to be a while, friends, I'm totally beat."

OOC: he'll be able to travel, if necessary, in half an hour, but it'll be close to two hours to get fully rested.

The alien sorcerer examines its device.
"Two things. The pocket dimension has a proximate entrance... walkable, to use your terms. Secondly, you are in possession of a book... there are others within the confi es of the city. It is desireous to examine this volume... and any others that can be found."

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Seeing Mancini start an exorcism, Jareth pitches in.  Righting chairs, moving things back to where they belong, cleaning windows, doorways, etc.  Probably not really doing much actual helping though...

OOC:
Mancini:
18:49, Today: Mancini rolled 13 using 3d6.  Will 15, to perform exorcism (allowed through Wild Talent).

Note a proper Cleansing takes three hours... but that's to remove a Curse or other such Unholy/Demonic/Elder thing/Etc presence.  To just "untaint" an area of the Doomchild's residue?  Probably a good bit shorter.  Also, Jareth will (try to) help.

10:34, Today: Jareth Mooncalled rolled 13 using 3d6.  Exorcism 10.  Aiding Mancini.

"Extradimensional space...?  I wonder..."

He pauses in his cleaning up the area, and slowly spins in a circle...

OOC:  Casting Seek Gate, excluding the Gate he knows about.

23:40, Today: Jareth Mooncalled rolled 8 using 3d6.  Seek Gate 15.  Cost 3 FP.

With a +7 he finds the distance and direction to the nearest open gate within 300 miles... or the nearest closed gate within 30 miles.

With the exception noted, you are feeling something in three different directions- something slightly north, several somethings in diferent states of being open west of you by a distance.
and something a bit further north and slightly west. You may have to refine your search.

With the exception noted, you are feeling something in two different directions- something slightly north, several somethings in different states of being open west of you by a distance.

The way I've always read the "Seek" type spells, is they give the nearest most "ping" and then stop.  In this case, he'd find the nearest gate open or closed within 30 miles.  If there are no Gates (noting the excluded Gate) within 30 miles, he'll ping on the nearest open gate within 300 miles.

Are you treating the Modifiers as Qualifiers?  If so... he'd be looking for the nearest "Open" Gate, expecting that any extradimensional shop that is "open for business" would have it's "door open".

quote:
You may have to refine your search.

If however you mean "you've found a handful of gates in active/deactive states, please clarify Distance and State of Openness and cast again"... than he'll continue slowly circling and refocus thusly:

13:47, Today: Jareth Mooncalled rolled 15 using 3d6.  Seek Gate 15.  Open Gate, Nearest, Excluding the Bone Gate.

Soooo... 0 MoS, he's good to pinpoint out to 200 yards.

If he didn't need to recast, just clarify his intent...let me know as 6 FP is a big hit for Jareth...

Nearest open lands you the gate , about a block away with a stong sense of direction. You are now aware that there are seveal dormant and one open gate in the vicinity of temple hill.

Jareth stops circling and sways a moment then points, "T'ere close, open extra dimensional gate that way.  Chance be it what ya lookin for."

He rubs his temples and mumbles, "Thas rough.  Gonna have'ta have t'e lie down..." and he just leans heavily on whatever is near him (wall, table, chair, the floor...)

OOC:  Note, with skill 15 he was muttering in Eldritch the entire time (mostly a one sided conversation about gates) and making weird twitches with his limbs.  Gotta get them skills to 20 for the "creepy stares into space" routine.

Taking Jareth's information to heart, the four armed celestial steps to the door to the smoldering tavern and sniffs deeply.

The Ymid has meanwhile been working on a drawing of glowing lines on its device, and then rotates the drawing as though it were a physical shape.

It draws Jareth's attention to the three (or four?) Dimensional diagram

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

After listening to the discussion, Nodwin stands up from where he is sitting and lumbers over to Kalima, slightly drunkenly.  He reaches into his pouch and produces several sheets of parchment, which he offers to the demon hunter.

"In his last mind picture, before we came here, the Ymid showed me a casting performed by grotesque people and flaminging demons, where they tried to bring a celestial into this town.  Something about a divine servitor spirit fleshed in human sacrifice.  Of note, he seems to have used the real names of the actual demons as footnotes.  Can you verify this, and does the information help you at all?  Can you expound on the information he provided?  I assume this might be an area where you have expertise?  Is it safe to guess that the multi-limbed image I also saw was you?"

OOC Nodwin will offer up all the information he has on that mind picture, clarifying details as necessary.

[Private to Nodwin Zideqick: the runes are the true names of demons, with bodies touched by flame, and bound by magic. The grotesqueries are human. The mathematical construct is an elder servitor's spirit, clad in the likeness of flesh by the sacrifices of its worshipers. The multilimbed thing summoned from a parallel dimension would appear to be part celestial..]

Jareth steals himself and takes a look at the Ymid's diagrams, he'll make requests for clarification in Eldritch if necessary.

He responds to Sederic offhandedly, as though this were an automatic response, "Maps are one royal for briefest overview, more expensive t'e more detail.  One hour for sketchy map, more detail is more time..."
