Grimaldi gives some side-eye to the attempt.
"The ones with secrets, try to extort us... What chic!"
He chuckles.

In reply to Aoife (msg # 413):

The four armed celestial takes a sniff, and a long look at the weird cyclopean being.
"Whatever it is, it isn't a demon, and is not repelled by my aura. This leads me to assume that it is not expressly aligned with the forces of evil. My guess is that is may be a creature of void and chaos...but it seems more curious than anything else."

Mancini pulls out his purse and pulls out a sovereign. " You said you had a map. I want a look at it. But I still say that is too much. Any chance to lower?"

(Merchant roll passed.14:46, Today: Mancini rolled 13 using 3d6.  Merchant 16.)

OOC I'll wait on the response to my description of the summoning circle above before moving on.  A few more important balls have been juggled recently, so this is mostly a reminder.

OOC:  DM, what's going on with Ymid's diagram?  Do you a skill roll?

"I'll agree with Nodwin.  When we first met, I was this close," he holds up thumb and finger, a barely visible space between them, "to putting an arrow through, um, his eye, or anyway giving it my best try with whatever magic he had protecting him.  But at no time since has, um, he done anything that seems intended to do us or our world harm.

"I would watch you don't fall asleep when that little pet of his is loose, though."

The celestial wrinkles her brow
"Not long ago, a day perhaps, or three? Time passes differently between worlds, we fought a variety of demons, including petty ones, an As-Sharak, and a demon.of old. That had been intended to be a sacrifice by a cult... they also summoned or constructed a great tentacled thing that was slain by Ardenas here, who used magic to fling a silvered greatsword at it."

Narrator:
Make an area knowledge: northport roll -4, a hidden lore: undercity lands you a +1.

OOC:

18:19, Today: Jareth Mooncalled rolled 14 using 3d6.  Hidden Lore (Undercity) 12, supplemental skill check for Area Knowledge (Northport).

Meh.  But it at least got the 14 out of the system for the next roll...

18:20, Today: Jareth Mooncalled rolled 11 using 3d6.  Area Knowledge (Northport) 8 (skill 12 - 4).

Double meh.

That's fine.  File the memory away for later sitting down with proper maps and time to figure out Ymid's weird 3d matrix.

Looking down at the tiny redhead, Mario replies.

"I, at least, know next to nothing about you.  Yet you seem to be enemies of the doomchildren, which makes you decent folks at least in that respect.  You have a strange friend, not of this world, but I've gotten more accustomed to such presences recently."  He glances at the Ymid.

"I don't know that our purposes overlap, however.  We came to investigate because we live nearby, and doomchildren near our home need to be dealt with.

"I don't make decisions for our group, though.  That's up to Nodwin and Jareth."

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

In reply to Mancini (msg # 433):

The three-dimensional figure drawn by the Ymid appears to indicate relative distanve between gates, all of which are within the city somewhere, and several are below ground  , but without the context of say, an overlaid city map, it would be difficult to picture where, and this creature seems not to be overly concerned with Euclidean geometry.

"If this gate is within a block around here, we should look for place nearby where the signs of corruption are high. This is just a watering hole for the demons, and already it feels like it's ready to fall apart and abandoned. Now just imagine what the area nearest the gates will be like."

He turned to Kalima. "Can you still smell the corruption nearby?"

Then to Jareth. " I'm sure there will be Doomchildren to return from wherever the Hell they come from."
