In reply to Nodwin Zideqick (msg # 539):

I was not clear, but Clarence was waiting and intended to enter the chalk following Grimaldi and Jareth. I thought they were going through the chalk door, but oh well!

He ill hold the light up as others talk to the vendor, or do whatever they are doing...

He looks over the items offered.

Mario frowns a bit, but once it's clear no one else is entering the stairway, he'll let that door close and follow the rest of the group up.

In reply to Sederic (msg # 541):

"I am a simple businessman  who runs a shop."

To the chalk squad:

You meander through the curving aisles of overstocked shelves. You can hear muffled voices, and see a yellowish looking goblin  loading brightly colored cylindrical items onto a shelf from a basket. Some of the shelvescontain peculiar items made of metal and glass or a glassy opaque material. The Ymid expresses interest in these.

Rather than get involved with the proprietor and staff, Grimaldi observed Ymid, out of curiosity and because he seemed to be able to analyze objects, through the magical device he held..."What are those?"

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

In reply to Grimaldi (msg # 545):

Grimaldi is at the front of the shop, the chalk squad somewhere in the back aisles.

There are, however, many interesting items on the shelves nearest to him, including a taxidermy monkey's paw inside a glass dome, a number of animal figurines, along with a great many figurines that resemble sahudese or desi deities, and a number of elaborately inlaid ornate boxes with insets of brass, silvet, and mother of pearl.

Another shelf holds metal cylinders with a wide screw top on one end, and another holds some sort of thick whitish wands with some sort of lanyard hanging from them...

There is also a display of potion bottles and jars of pastilles, and a few racks of weapons, many of which a cruel looking, but others are beautifully decorated. On the same rack are some other things you are not sure of, small black or silver l shaoed tubes, some with what look like an ivory or mother of pearl grip, and beside them are boxes of narrowbrass and silver cylinders with pointed or domed ends.

Mario's nose wrinkles slightly at the confusion of scents in the room, metals and naphtha and something that might be camphor, along with a faintly unpleasant pungency.

"What even is this stuff?"
His gaze darts between the shelves of unfamiliar goods and the glimpses he can get of the goblin and the hooded proprietor.

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

Cooly surveying the merchandise, Grimaldi shows fleeting interest. He knew what they were here to do. But if a ruse was necessary, he'd go along with it. He'd let Mancini do the talking, and be ready if anything went poorly. He didn't like the fact their whole group was within the void of a sanctuary, and wondered if they could escape this place, or would they be trapped?

The boxed items Jocelyn is looking at are only a knuckle or so high.  The wands with the lanyards might be more to her liking, or the brightly colored cylindrical objects a few aisles back...

Mancini moves closer to the Ymid and lowers his voice. "Do you have any idea of what the goblin is stocking and its uses?"

As Mancini talked, he watched the goblin carefully, figuring out the best method of approach.

Nod win likewise will ask the Ymid "What is this place?  Can you explain what this is, and where we are?  I saw people coming in, and followed them, but I would like to understand what is happening.  This makes no sense.

Also, you sent me some thought pictures earlier.  I was wondering if there was any more information on the topic to be found here.  Sometimes you just seem to know things."

Re: Hunting for a specialty shop

In reply to Aoife (msg # 560):

Clarence, coming up behind Jareth, holds the lantern high, illuminating the room as they approach. He is not really sure what they are doing here, but he is following along anyway. Jareth seemed to be the strange creatures friend, and now that creature had found something that seemed nearly as strange, also with a group of adventurers, and they seemingly were traveling with them, perhaps out of morbid curiousity, to a shop that seemed to not really be here.

It all hurt his mind to think about this. So much magic. So many strange things. What was real, what was not. And then they told him he could not travel the street with his giant spider. It was not magical. Spiders were nice. They ate pests, like rats. They could make curtains for you that could trap intruders. What was there not to like about them? The world was getting stranger, no doubt about it. He began his work holding a light for people that killed pests, but things were getting more weird by the day.

And so he approached the top of the stairs...following some of the strangest creatures he had every heard of...included amoung his allies!

The odd creature has been intensely examining a number of items.
"Which item specifically? There are so many wonderous things here." it gestures toward a cluster of embellished wooden boxes, inlaid with brass, and then at a black oblong object made of smooth.material, and set with a number of studs marked with runes."That for example is the Lament Configuration.  The other object is a Universal Rrmote. I have three, they are noy as universal as they are advertised.   Hanging beside it seems to be a mirror that reconfigures one's reflection to be more appealing.  Look at that dashing image, and admire the beauty of this one!"
