Adolus, stepping forward to attack a swarm of normal rats, is charged by the swarm, which bites at him, and does 4 points cutting before DR


Swarms are wandering damage, hith hit points, but don't roll to attack, they just do it.

He approaches a group of small rats within 2 meters and swings his Flame jet through them several times.

Aldous suddenly staggers, his new shoes torn and the legs of his leathers tattered, and his feet and legs bleeding.  With a sudden shake of his head, he turns toward the stairs.

"Coming through!  These things are eating me up!"

In reply to Sparky (msg # 367):

Several rats burn, but the remaining ones do not dissipate.


Adolus is being pursued by the rats! They have a mv of 4. If your move is reduced to that, unless you expend fatigue to hobble-sprint, they can attack again!

”Hang on Aldous, I'm coming.”, the tall athletic mercenary barks.

Porter will move to aid Aldous in any way he can, either by protecting his retreat or being a blocker and cutting a path to the stairs.

Sparky moves to assist Aldous in getting away from the rats, moving his continuing flame jet around to deter or burn the little buggers.

I'm getting tired again and will soon need to go back upstairs.

Porter dives an and slashes through the rats pursuing Adolus, dispersing them.

Ghis second swing, and Sparky's flame blast clear another swarm, and set a third aflame, and a second tlater the continued burning disperses that one also.

adolus and anyone else who has been bitten need to make HT rolls.

Aldous wasn't any faster than the rats to begin with, so he'll do whatever is necessary to keep ahead of them long enough to get at least partway up the stairs and out of their reach.

OOC: fatigue is the least of my worries, compared to falling down among the rats.

Might work, but I am curious as to why they show little fear ... rats aren't so brave normally

"They are no doubt maddened and extra feral, from decades of inbreeding and cannibalism! This is probably one of the worst things, I have seen in my life!"

Sven replied, holding his axe overhead.

Nana take out the large rat with her knife.

Porter feels a little queasy.

The rats had time to adjust to the light, have been swarming individuals,  and the larger rats are more viscious.

As the big rat goes down, Nana cries out:
"Come on, let's get out of here!"

"Dad! Let us in, we've got some injured!"
Sven bellowed.

In addition to the shouting below, there is shouting from outside.

A small redhaired figure enters the tavern from the stableyard.

Kazimir says to his wife, as he unbolts and opens the door, for those below, to retreat above.

"Кто этот малыш?"
Hetilda says, looking at what she thinks is a little girl.

Aldous keeps his iron grip on his lantern (with the light brick) and his knife, but leans on the wall as he stumbles and staggers up the stairs.

"Didn't realize I was that bad off until the room started spinning."

His new shoes are bloodied and chewed, and his ankles look like the source of the blood.

"I think I need to rest."  With that, just past the cellar door, he goes to his knees, then sidewise to rest on his knife hand, lantern still held high.
