[Private to GM: What does a spell such as Major Healing cost to have cast?  I'd welcome getting 8 HP back -- currently at 2 out of 10.]

Porter over hears the young mans comment as he's hauling a load of rats upstairs.  ”Give me a minute and I'll see if I can find one.”

OOC:
Finishing hauling the last loads out the basement.  Then spend some time looking around for anything that could be used to make an improved crutch.  Ideally a stick or board about 4.5 feet long that we could nail a cross bar onto and wrap some cloth around it for under arm support.  If nothing can be found Porter will help Aldous to the healers by walking shoulder to shoulder so that Aldous can use Porter as a crutch.

Luckily you and Porter get to the cathedral without incident other than engaging a religious procession of drunken devotees of the triunist Saint Pyr- do you follow them or try to bypass them?

Aldous will follow along with the cultists as long as they're moving toward the cathedral.  If they're moving faster than he can keep up, he'll let them go on ahead.

OOC: Aldous was raised and remains Triunist -- that's why the cathedral was his destination.

You arrive rather slowly at the cathedral, and stop in at one of the small shrines where there is an icon of a fat friar and a well... make a theology roll (iq-4 for you, -6 ,for porter if he isn't  triunist as well.+1 on roll for a successful carousing roll)
Is Porter a triunist?

"I don't know this one.  So many saints..."

Porter is happy to accompany the young injured street runner to the cathedral.  Porter likes helping but too the smell and wet, sticky, slimy mess of the blood and guts was getting to him.  This is a nice diversion.

As Aldous kneels at the icon and isn't quite sure Porter just shrugs.

OOC:
Not sure what Triunist is so at this time lets say Porter is undecided.  Botched the roll, Porter is no help.

OOC Triunists believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 3 divine aspects in one person, but each with His own manisfestation, of carrying out His will, and interacting with His creations, and other beings. There are also a myriad of saints, which have through various means, displayed their extreme piety and virtues as living examples of how to attain theosis, or have become martyrs for the sake of The Lord. These are like an extended family, of the Kingdom of Heaven. They also each have their own spheres of influence and domains, concerning different issues, as well as being patrons of various skills, arts, and crafts.

Thanks Kaz.  That was very helpful.  So its similar to Christianity.  In that case Porter is a Triunist, but he's far from devout.  I still missed the roll horribly.

The Yuricks were kulaks, until the invasions, then they became gypsies. They are all greedy, proud, and the women are selfish, and prone to fighting. They worship their ancestors, heroes, and various spirits of nature, along with various Gods and Goddesses.

There are a fistful of deities in Shevnia that might be claimed as ancestors as well. Based on th er slavic gods, they include  Rod, Belobog, Chernabog, Hors, Makosh, and others.

Both Porter and Adolus now have recieved a blessing for participating in the procession.
You were regaled with the primary act of martyrdom of St.Pyr, who consumed consecrated sacramental wine so it would not be wasted, and fell into a well and died. He is the patron saint of falling down drunks.

"Master Fisher is has been long  since we have seen you ! Perhaps your confession will be longer, as I have heard young Adolus' sins this week past."

Porter is simply hanging around, lending aid when needed for poor Aldous.  Black has been in that boat before and managing by oneself is painful, in many ways.  But he is surprised when the priest calls him out.  Usually Porter doesn't answer to anything else and will ignore people who don't use his preferred name.  But the Father is one of the few exceptions.

Porter turns a slight red and bows his head sheepishly.  ”Ya Father.  I uh...been busy.”  But even as he utters the words a pang of guilt shoots through him.  Was he really too busy to neglect his faith?  Totally?

OOC:
When Father Robard is done attending to Aldous Porter will give confession, and yes, it'll be a long one.  ;)

"I did get a job, Father.  That's where I got these bites.  If I can hold onto it, they feed me and pay enough to buy clothes and some equipment, and we might even get loot from the undercity."

"My son, it is good that you are finding honest work, let that be your penance for being lightfingered. As to the lust, pray a Gloria Est to Saint Ursula for guidance. Go forth, and sin no more, Te Absolvo.... now, Fisher. I think you might want the privacy of the confessional... come with me."

A few minutes of unburdening later, the freshly shriven Porter exits the confessionals with a laundry list of prayers he is not sure he remembers the words to, and a request to do an act of kindness to a stranger.

Btw, being devout with normal attendance at services, and up to and including minor dietary restrictions or voluntary tithing  is all of a 1 point quirk.  If you pray for more than an hour a dayon top of that, that is a 5pt disad, dscaplines of faith.
Being lukewarm in attendance or belief is 0, telling everybody you are agnostic or an athiest is a quirk.

While Porter is in the confessional, Aldous performs his penance for lust; kneeling once more, and holding the image of Saint Ursula in his mind, he confidently intones:

"Esto gloria est Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper: et in saecula saeculorum."

He then crosses himself before struggling back to his feet.

When the Porter and Father Robards return, he entreats the priest.

"Father, I have some coin, honestly obtained, to offer to the Three; will you aid the healing of my wounds so I may return to my job?"

OOC: Need 8 HP of healing, 16 farthings.

Fisher exits the small confessional booth, a vague look of stubborn irritation loosely hanging about his face.  As he reviews his penance in his head he wonders if he needs a refresher before leaving.

OOC:
Good to know about the point levels for the religion.  The 1 point Quirk fits Porter perfectly.

Aid Aldous in whatever way is needed.  Leave when he is ready.

On my way out drop $5 in the tithe box.

He requests the aid of one of thr decons, snd both goblins lay their hands upon your wounds.  You feel a warmth spread through the affected part that rises into a sesring heat. When they withdraw their hands, you have new pink skin where the rats had bitten, and only a general soreness that rest might recover.

You were healed 6 hp, that'll be $12

"Gratias, Pater."  Aldous wiggles his feet.  "That's a tremendous improvement.  Too bad about my new shoes, though.  Maybe when I get paid I can see if the shoemaker can patch them up.  Still better than barefoot, where we're going."

Aldous counts out a stack of coppers for the Father, and kneels once more, this time before the altar, and crosses himself before taking his leave, now carrying the crutch rather than leaning on it.

"You know, Porter, my mother used to keep house for the Father before she died.  I'd be more at home in the rectory than anywhere else in Northport."
