The Mug and Cauldron

It is with a satisfied smile that Porter begins his exit with Aldous, now walking side by side rather than helping the young man hobble along.  He listens to the young thief tell how he spent a good deal of his youth in the church.  Ahhh, one of life's little ironies.

As he feels in the mood to share Porter opens up.  ”Sorry about your mother.  How'd she die?  My mother never cared much for the church. “

OOC: Ready to go back to the M & C.

"She died of a fever when I was twelve.  I was too old for the orphanage to take me, and the Father's new housekeeper had five brats, so I was out on the streets.  Not to say I haven't slept in the confessional once or twice."

In reply to Aldous Hack (msg # 538):

Along the way, you encounter an angry looking man who presses a woodcut printed pamphlet into your hands. He has an armband with a red blood drop.

Aldous looks over the pamphlet, but decides it's probably best to wait until he can sit to try to puzzle it out.

"I wonder what his problem is?  Last time I saw anyone that angry looking was when the orc juggers were smashing up the Artisan district."

Fisher is tickled by the outcome at the church.  Looks like Aldous will be back on his feet in no time, literally.  But then they stumble into the angry man and it takes the edge off his good mood.

Porter stares at the arm band as he glances over the pamphlet.

OOC:
Read the pamphlet.  Do I recognize the insignia of the arm band?

Make an IQ-2 roll for default heraldry.
You might have seen something like it before.

You have reached the Mug and Cauldron's yard. The others have been busy hauling out rats.

Aldous goes inside and right down the stairs to join in what's left of the cleanup and get a look around the cellar now that things are calm enough to do so.

The well lit basement still has piles of crud in the corners, but you can see the floorboards now. There are a couple of doors. Some rotting barrels and a set of bronze gates.

We need to clear the rotten barrels out too, may be what's drawing the rats.

Nana, heading to sweep out the corners spots significant woodrot in the flooring that is wet.

Checking the rotting barrels, you notice one seems nailed to the floor. It seems to be in better shape than the others.

"Or maybe a switch, for a hidden chamber?"
"Lets try and turn, or push down on it."
He grips the barrel, preparing to try.
