You can see a short corridor that turns to the right. The floors are covered with rat droppings, and you can hear squeaking.

***having reviewed my map****
You have gone through the door at the top right of the map.
There is another door behind the staircase, on the wall between it and the warm hearth that is against the shared wall with the bakery.

The door you opened  is on one side of a three yard wife corridor that turns right into one two yards wide.
To the left is one of those bronze gates.
Straight accross is a bricked over archway
To the right, about three yards away, the narrow corridor ends in a door.

The space, which is barrel vaulted, looks to be about where the wagon gate in the yard would be above

Peering through the gate, you can make out a wide corridor (4 yards) with gutters on either side,  and a matching gate opposite the gate you are looking through.

The door behind you has some cracks between the vertical boards, and is not flush with the flagstones.

The bricked over archway has some chinks as well.

Aldous holds his light higher while waving parallel to the passage behind the gates.  "I don' think the streets are allas above the passages down here.  Tha' door looks like it oughtta run under the street, but I think the main way down here's behin' those bronze gates."  He takes a couple steps toward the rather porous wooden door.

"Let's explore this way first.  I trust those gates behind us more than a rickety old wood door, and I think the other door, behind the stairs, goes into the baker's basement."

In reply to Aldous Hack (msg # 623):

The door near the hearth runs parallel to the baker's place, this door heads in that general direction, but right now you are probably under the stableyard, and the bricked opening would lead under one of the buildings that flanks the yard.  The passage beyond the gate would seem to run under the street.

Squeaking comes from beyond the door, and also beyond the gate.

Porter listens and follows the banter carefully.

OOC:
Porter will follow behind the crowd as they explore.  Shield on left arm.  Draw sword once we hear the squeaking sounds.  Porter wants to be near the front but doesnt want to pick the direction the group goes.

OOC:
My state announced today a mandatory work shut down for non essential workers along with a stay at home order.  I am considered in the essential group and am being offered copious amounts of OT.  I apologize but it will severely limit my ability to post.  Thanks for your patience.

Porter does not want to lead.  He will act as a support tank (fighter and damage soaker).  He will try to stay near the front lines but let others direct where we go and what gets explored next.  Porter has leather armor all over, a thrusting broadsword, a knife and a shield.  Sword and shield are readied.
