In reply to Reanna Draegan (msg # 33):

Melchizadek frowns. This group was not going where a good person would feel comfortable.

"You will have to justify your actions before your gods one day. I might just do as you suggest, and attend to the poor..."

He heads outside to help some of the many poor who are not well, as much for his own conscience as for any other reason.

In reply to Melchizidek (msg # 34):

Ooc: Melchizidek's god is Helios, effectively Appollo, a god of sinlight, song, good, and healing. Neutral to Chaotic good, for those who use that parlance. Judgy, prudish, and concerned with burning bodies he is not.
Neither the god, or the character as written. Breathe. If attacking the oppressive hotbed of sorcery and its minions are not for him, there are other groups; this setting is designed for West Marches style play, where groups form and reorganize.

OOC: Yeah, IC I figured this was not a good mission for him. Assassination is not exactly a good aligned thing. But as the player I am all cool...also playing Reanna! Happy for him to find another group...his grumpyness with an assassination is purely IC! He would have other ways of doing it, but they are not very compatible with the hack and slash of the rest of the group!

Darius looked after Melchizidek leaving, a slight smile on his lips. "Despite our very... different outlooks," he said, "and despite my disagreements with the Mage Guild, there are things I will not do." He looked around the table. "Do not take this as anything more than a personal limit. I will not hinder or betray you. And, indeed, I wish you success in that task. I just will not join."

He bowed slightly before saying goodbye and leaving towards the main guild hall.

OOC Aegis cares about money and drink.  Where or how he earns his money...not so much.  Pretty much the definition of callous.

While we wait for walk-ins, it would be a good time to spend points, and  also pay 1 week if Cost of living to get rested, and get gear in order. (A bath, weapin sharpening,  armor repair, clothes cleaned and mended, etc.)

OOC DF has Cost of Living on p65.  Average wealth is $1000 for the week.  On it boss.

Since there was no objection, I'll spend the character points as well.

Cost of living is $150 a week. Masugatan, if employed as a caravan guard or ahem, collections and debt enforcement agent, would, at his point level make $60 per day. A common guard makes $30, leaving them to work 6 days if they want to do more than break even. A 250 point character makes $120/day and barely needs to work in order to break even.

He has the Pirate's code of honor, so maybe some....booty.

Arrgh! Wooden leg or hook be extra.

Simple temporary company is a silver. Wierd shit can be up to 2 gold. Tell you what, make three carousing rolls and then spend 1d6 silver on things you can't talk about in polite company, and I will add some rumors and social entaglements to your character once he sobers up. A failed roll can end up either in a fight to the death (bloodlust will roll) over a spilled drink, or a heath roll vs a visit to a temple for a cure.

Generally I like to leave this in the dark, unless you want to drop points on an ally.

OOC  That's about 5 levels of funny there.  And I prefer to leave these things in the dark as well.  It does bring to mind a long list of "dad joke" level humor that is probably best left in the closet with my skeletons.

The whole ally thing...  How much 'help can Aegis get for 1 character point?  O would that be more of a "contact"...

In reply to Reanna Draegan (msg # 51):

Probably fine.

Aegis spent enough time drinking hard that he doesn't clearly remember what happened, although he does recall one long conversation  with a wizard of some sort who had a dark beard but gray hair, and had star spangled robes, and kept playing cards by himself,  about the harsh policies of the guild preventing free exchange of knowledge, and a habit of taxing and harrassing practicioners who are non guild members, and price fixing on sales of potions and paraphanalia.

Investing in a contact, and eventually an ally works fine, as does "Favor" which could be used to build more as well. Drop 4 points, and you have a 62ish point ally that wont leave your side...

OOC  Aegis has found a working girl he likes.  I'll put in a character point towards a Contact.  She *might* like him back.  In fact, if she is interested in a sort of arrangement, he might even consider cohabitation or something like that.  Aegis is getting older, and would like at least the illusion of stability.

Now given that Aegis has...few redeeming qualities as a partner...  It would have to be more of a business arrangement.  Also, Aegis isn't the most stable of people to start out with, so it probably won't be entirely friendly.  But, it will give him a reason to come home...and likely a reason to run back out on another adventure the very next day.

Please let me know how much you would like me to provide, and how much you will supply from your side.

In reply to Aegis (msg # 57):

Masugatan  could go for a little armor, I am sure.

A cornocopia quiver of standard bolts costs $2010, for fine bolts, +$4000

A piece of cloth torso armor has a base cost of $53 (neck, torso, groin), with sleeves, $78 before hitting it with the CF for silk, so that might ve slightly higher. The main value in this material is that you can stack it with thieves mail (or any other armor) without the associated penalty. (And it is hella lighter as well)
As per DFRPG, fighter types xan take Armor mastery for 5pts, which gives not only a removal of those penalties for stacking, it gives DR+1 if wearing armor with DR2 or better.
