Argis sits by himself, in a corner where he can watch everyone in the room.  He absently tosses his dagger up in the air every so often, catching it by the hilt (most of the time).  At one point he does miss, narrowly avoiding the blade, and the dagger clatters to the floor.  He scowls, and puts it in it's scabbard, then starts flipping a copper instead.

Darius sat close by, his staff leaning against the wall besides him. He was scribbling something in a small journal; those who'd come closer would see spidery writing and sketched maps. As the server approached Aegis, he spared a small glance upwards, but was soon writing again and only listened in with half an ear.

Aegis grunts as much as anything else in response to Madeline, then responds.  "I kill stuff.  They do the discreet things..." as he gestures to the rest of the group around him.  He then leans back in his chair, and takes a nice long pull from the large drought of ale in front of him.  He'd gone with something a bit stronger after their success with Balar.  Quite simply, he had enough coin to sleep it off upstairs if he needed to.

Aegis leans back in his chair and takes another long pull from his ale.  He can barely control his mirth, and doesn't want anyone to see the large smile crossing his face.  The very idea of this group messing with the mage's guild was hilarious.  He could only imagine how much chaos would ensue.  People might get killed, stuff might get burned...  The whole idea just seemed like it would be a lot of fun.

Once he could control the smile on his face, Aegis responds "Soonds lik fun."

"Just because the victim died, doesn't mean he can't answer questions," Darius said. He sat down next to Aegis, a choice he immediately regretted given the alcoholic smell emanating from him. He closed his eyes, as much for shutting out their environment as to to recalling what he knew of the mage guild. If only he'd paid more attention to the organization and doings of those with less elegant magical abilities.

Aegis laughs heartily at this, combined with a belch.  Overall, the explosion of mirth from his mouth causes small droplets of ale and drool to shower everyone in front of him.

Either Aegis doesn't notice, or could care less.

Instead, he responds with a rather large and somewhat sadistic looking smile.  "Weesh I cud see dat fer meselv.  Got lotsa secrits ta shere.  Luv to sea da luks on peeples' faces."

The thought of that kind of chaos just makes him smile a little more.  The ability to get back at all the people who wronged him even after death...  Well, that was something he could drink to, and so he does.

'BRRRRRAAAAAP'

He feels much better after a second belch.

Neither the god, or the character as written. Breathe. If attacking the oppressive hotbed of sorcery and its minions are not for him, there are other groups; this setting is designed for West Marches style play, where groups form and reorganize.

Aegis spent enough time drinking hard that he doesn't clearly remember what happened, although he does recall one long conversation  with a wizard of some sort who had a dark beard but gray hair, and had star spangled robes, and kept playing cards by himself,  about the harsh policies of the guild preventing free exchange of knowledge, and a habit of taxing and harrassing practicioners who are non guild members, and price fixing on sales of potions and paraphanalia.

Investing in a contact, and eventually an ally works fine, as does "Favor" which could be used to build more as well. Drop 4 points, and you have a 62ish point ally that wont leave your side...

OOC  Aegis has found a working girl he likes.  I'll put in a character point towards a Contact.  She *might* like him back.  In fact, if she is interested in a sort of arrangement, he might even consider cohabitation or something like that.  Aegis is getting older, and would like at least the illusion of stability.

Now given that Aegis has...few redeeming qualities as a partner...  It would have to be more of a business arrangement.  Also, Aegis isn't the most stable of people to start out with, so it probably won't be entirely friendly.  But, it will give him a reason to come home...and likely a reason to run back out on another adventure the very next day.

Please let me know how much you would like me to provide, and how much you will supply from your side.

Masugatan  could go for a little armor, I am sure.

A cornocopia quiver of standard bolts costs $2010, for fine bolts, +$4000

A piece of cloth torso armor has a base cost of $53 (neck, torso, groin), with sleeves, $78 before hitting it with the CF for silk, so that might ve slightly higher. The main value in this material is that you can stack it with thieves mail (or any other armor) without the associated penalty. (And it is hella lighter as well)
As per DFRPG, fighter types xan take Armor mastery for 5pts, which gives not only a removal of those penalties for stacking, it gives DR+1 if wearing armor with DR2 or better.

Back in Town

In reply to Reanna Draegan (msg # 62):

DF does not use rugged or expensive modifiers.
Cornocopia quivers hold one bolt and nothing can be put in them. You can get bodkin only for the same price.

Masugatan, you might want to upgrade from DR2, maybe replacing the leather for a DR5 cuirrass for $1890. It is, after all brigandine,  and you are very nearly a brigand. A helmet might help too.

Brigandine is indeed for brigands.  Okay, I’ll take it for $1890, and to make the math easier I’ll also grab a fur loincloth for $10.  Never leave home without one.

Most folks with tactics who can see heavier torso armor than head will aim for the head.
DR 5 helm costs $450, an extra $180 for a visor ($360 for an intimidating one that would get you a +1 on intimidation, and -1 on other reactions)

Ok. Recommending Dne buy Masugatan as an ally for 8, as that would resolve my two character issues, and I think they work well as a team.

Jednesa:
Masugatan:
Sure, if there’s a meat shield shortage in the vicinity.

Jednesa has all the meat necessary... what she lacks is 'discretion' and 'being normal size'.  So there's probably more than enough room for a regular sized meat thug to boop things on the head and make some money.

Works for me.  Besides, you seem like someone who can keep my character in line, which he obviously needs.

That whole ‘open classroom’ thing didn’t work on him.

In reply to Masugatan (msg # 146):

Christine is a bit of a loose cannon herself. Her way of keeping destructive folk in line is to point them to the bad guys and give artillery support...probably why she gets on well with Jednessa!

Aegis can be in or out.  He's plenty happy with his current activities, but I'm willing to bet a decent archer, even with his unsavory qualities, would be welcome...

Re: Back in Town

With jednesa and Masugatan accompanying Christine, Aegis should back up Rheanna and Dne.

I will ask if there any other takers,

Re: Back in Town

If only we could get Gareth.  Aegis would have no issue with his particular view on things, as long as things didn't get creepier than he himself is.  That allows for a lot of license...
