She creates a fireball, just to underscore the point.

"Wait, Christine!  They were singing along with Jednesa; they may simply be suspicious of us.  Perhaps they think she's our slave or prisoner?"

"Can you understand them?  Is that Shevnian?"

Jednesa sets the cart's tongue down and turns towards the orcs speaking slowly, "Zeptala se, odkud jste a co je na cestě vpřed?" As she finishes she points down the road.

[Private to GM: She asked where you were from and what was on the way forward?]

Alchemist McNealy aims at the Orcs, but does not loft his payload.  He stands there, waiting to see the outcome of the interaction.

[Private to GM: Not exactly sure how the rules work for flinging potions.  The book indicates they are a -5 to hit, I think?  Seems mighty inaccurate or even counterproductive to loft potion bottles this way.  Might have been a critical design flaw in the character...  I wonder if there is a difference between the standard vials and "grenade bottles".  Any insight?]

The orc, pointing at the fireball with his chin, says something in a tongue that sounds like the language Jednesa is speaking.

The sisters hold their position, hands on their whips, waiting for something to change.

Jednesa turns around and sees all the hostility, "Humph."

She looks directly at Christine, "Orc happy talk.  Put away weapon, like cilivize... cizil... like talk cityfolk."

Quietly, from his position towards the back of the group, McNealy lowers his staff-sling and pulls out the vial.  It gets placed back in his potion belt, where he took it from.  He stays on guard, however, as orcs typically cannot be trusted.

Christine will drop her fireball.

"Ok, nice. Who are they?"

Jednesa smiles and turns back to the orcs.  "Dobře, je to klidné. Odkud jsi, a co je před námi?"



OOC:  Just to speed it up we can forgo with the back and forthing...

Jednesa in Ogrish:  "Okay, it's calm. Where are you from, and what is in front of us?"

Masugatan stands ready, but does nothing for now.  No need to get jumpy...

"Remember how Papa used to tell us stories about his Papa going to war against the orcs?

"I like them better when they aren't going to eat us."

Through Jednesa,  the orcs are able to communicate that they are Bartak, Hinson, and Urdash, mercenaries  without current commissions, heading from Shevnia where they were offered low paying jobs in exchange for land in twenty years, but they are tired of Shevnia and the hate fir orcs. They hear there is good work hunting big things in Veroigne.

"Big things?  Veroigne is more or less on our way, is it not, Christine?  Could that be the dragon we've heard of?"

The orcs seem to recognize the word'dragon', and two shake their heads vigorously   and they collectively name an assortment of animals; bears, wolves, foxes, rabbits...apparently one of those can feed a large family for two days.

McNealy watches the interplay between the two, and then steps a bit towards the front.  Pointing at himself, he states "Alchemist McNealy".  Then he points at them in turn and says "Bartak, Hinson, and Urdash".  Then he smiles and waves.
