What did the boots Emma was looking at look like?

Would the light from the alchemists flask distract her?

Re: Seekers of the Flame

As McNealy notices the reaction of Masugatan, the tradesman gets a wicked look on his face, and tosses the vial to the adventurer.

"Catch, my friend."

As long as Masugatan isn't too far away, it's a good throw.

Re: Seekers of the Flame

Shaking her head at McNealy and Masugatan, Evelina beckons to her sister and approaches the smaller door and begins looking closely at the handle, frame and the floor where you'd stand to open it.

[Private to GM: 18:47, Today: Evelina Grattan rolled 9 using 3d6.  Traps (9 + 1 for extra time) to check smaller door.]

The younger sister follows the older, and takes a stance to one side of the door, at least a couple yards back (to give whip room) as she uncoils her whip.  "Ready, Holiness."

In reply to Masugatan (msg # 896):

Concerns about her looks addressed, Emma notices the flask in Masugatan's hand.

"What the hell, are you guys playing games with volatile substances? An alchemist should know better..." she says in a disappointed voice. She shakes her head, before continuing.

"So, what else have we got? Through the door, I see."

She readies her quarterstaff, the yellow gem in the end glowing, the light shining to resemble the sun that represents her god, and moves closer to the door to offer light, but stays behind Masugatan.

She now has on both the coat and the boots...her original shoes hang from hr side by their laces.

Re: Seekers of the Flame

McNealy checks the vial sitting on the floor to see if the vigorous shaking had caused it to give off light, as he was expecting.  As he walks over to pick it up, he laughs at Masugatan.  "Impulsive of me, but nice catch.  It needed to be shaken, and that seemed like a good way to get it done."

OOC It looks like the rest of the group is going to open a door.  He will examine the liquid in the vial and see what shaking it has uncovered in the potion.

[Private to GM: As you were very concerned about it being caught, does McNealy pick up on anything unusual about the potion now that it has been properly agitated?

In reply to McNealy (msg # 899):

Emma doesn't make any sound as she walks!

The bil is glowing,  but a layer of fluid remains separated and appears to be turbulently reacting with the other layer of liquid...

Part of the substrate is phosphorus, and part of the solute is napthalene. When stabilized, it merely glows. Apparently these vials have partially decomposed to some of the active ingredients of alchemical fire, only less stable, kind of like nitroglycerin., except sticky.

Instead, she just moves about like a ghost, except when she talks...and now, she is holding the light for whoever is opening the door.

Evelina seems to be taking rather a long time, checking the door area in great detail.

OOC: spent Extra Time for a skill bonus, so a minute to check becomes two.

Emma Wilson:

OOC: More like "greek" or as DFRPG calls it, alchemical fire.  It'll burn until it's completely burned itself out, runs out of oxygen (water counts as an oxygen source), or is magically/divinely/druidically/etc'ly suppressed.

MbNealy probably needs to put it in a container that can handle the rapid expansion of gases and flammable liquid.  Hopefully a container that's not inflammable.

And while Jednesa is inflammable, she is not a container.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8mD2hsxrhQ

Right now a small part of Jareth (for he lives within me) desperately wants to see what happens if the bubbling container were put in an area magically Fireproofed.

He probably already knows, but still, it's for Applied Philosophy!
