Re: Against the Mageguild

In reply to Narrator (msg # 266):

Likely another traveller. We are not common thieves. At least, Reanna is not. She will move past the traveller towards their destination, keeping an eye on him, but also watching around them for more serious threats. I assume from the tone he is travelling the same way as us, or coming towards us?

In reply to Jelak (msg # 268):

Still, probably just another traveller. Reanna will greet the kitten as they approach, but keep walking. Crossbow as always ready and keeping some distance, but not aimed at the traveller. Not yet, anyway. Never too trusting...

Re: Against the Mageguild

Dilandua pays more attention to the area them than to the catfolk, though Dilandua will make sure to not allow the catfolk to approach within arm's reach.

Re: Against the Mageguild

Aegis takes no notice of the catfolk, beyond registering that they are there.  If they are dumb enough to try something with a heavily armed group of this nature, then they will get what they deserve.  Most people, in his experience, are wise enough to stay out of the way of mercenaries.

Re: Against the Mageguild

Aegis puts the coins he was flipping back into his pouch and pulls out his knife, flipping it in the air nonchalantly.  "Guud Dey.  Whot soort uv fesh weyre bitin?  How abut yu giv us won fer dinner?"

He peers at the catfolk in a staid, intent sort of manner.

[Private to GM: Just because it's the sort of asinine thing Aegis would do...  I rolled Intimidation.
17:10, Today: Secret Roll: Aegis rolled 7 using 3d6.  Intimidation 12.

It smiles very widely.
"What would you give me for them?"

The cat shakes his head, and poi ts to a number of knotted bits of string and feathers pinned to its vest
"I tie my own lures, and keep not the company of worms."

You notice that his tail is slowly fading away.

Any hidden lore folks?

Dilandua takes a few wary steps away from the 'catfolk', Dilandua's entire focus is now on the creature.

OOC:  No 'lore' type skills at all on this character.

Re: Against the Mageguild

Aegis starts to joke "What, does the cat have your tail..." but then the rest of the creature starts to disappear too.  Instinctively, being in the presence of magic like this, he does what he knows to do.  Aegis strikes with the knife.

[Private to GM: He hits by 7, if anything of the cat is left.  Random location.
13:48, Today: Secret Roll: Aegis rolled 8 using 3d6.  Aegis knife 15.
13:50, Today: Secret Roll: Aegis rolled 8 using 2d6+1.  2d6+1 cutting with the knife.
13:49, Today: Secret Roll: Aegis rolled 9 using 3d6.  Shield block 14 if attacked back.

Nothing of the cat is left but the teeth, and given that the creature was SM-2, you beed a hit by8 to hit its mouth. The creature yowls, and heads off. Aegis knife passed through the area that was its face

Re: Against the Mageguild

Aegis scowls.  As in he's really frustrated.  His teeth clench, and he sheathes his knife angrily. The word "Mejik!" slips out of his mouth like he was spitting mucus.  Then he uncorks a bottle of dwarven spirits and takes a good solid pull, wiping his mouth on his shoulder.

OOC Ready to move on.

Re: Against the Mageguild

Dilandua sheathes the spear.

"That was unwise Aegis.  Offering threats and violence to others when they offer comradery is bound to create an enemy for you."

A pause while Dilandua scans the surrounding area for any other signs of fey.

"Hopefully we don't all suffer the cat's vengeful nature this night.  Might be wise to leave an offering out to soothe any trouble feelings.  Honestly though, courtly things were never my strength.  It's equally likely the cat will be satisfied having made Aegis a bungling fool."

OOC:  Dilandua has neither the eyes to see any further threats, nor the proper manner to know how to smooth over this breach of etiquette.

18:43, Today: Dilandua rolled 14 using 3d6.  Per 10, any other signs of creatures around.

18:46, Today: Dilandua rolled 13 using 3d6.  Savoir-Faire (Fairie Court) 10, how to smooth over with Grimalkin.

Re: Against the Mageguild

Aegis pointedly ignores Dilandua.  He's the hired help for the job.  If they didn't like how he carried himself, they were welcome to pay someone else for the work.  There was always something to do.

Maybe Dilandua was right, but he didn't know what to expect from the cat person.  To him it looked like magic.  When the creature started disappearing, he didn't want to take any chances.

OOC Yes, I know Aegis caused all of that.  He wouldn't think so.

Dilandua continues to keep an eye out as we recommence.

OOC:  No worries.  Dilandua was prepared to let Aegis get stabbed a few times before stepping in if the weird catfolk started fighting instead of running off.
