Lovely. What is attractive about that exactly?

In reply to Jareth Mooncalled (msg # 57):
The tripartite God knows all the desires of those which he hath made. With our free will we must sacrifice our own desires and passions, in this life, and choose this willingly. In return, God will give us each our rewards, in His kingdom in heaven. This will be different according to each one's deeds, and to the degree one has cultivated one's spirit. But the aim is to attain union with the kingdom of heaven, through theosis. this is a position and a status that is higher than even that of the Angels in heaven. They are His beloved servitors, but we were made to be his true children and companions, and through serving Him, our rewards as exarchs of THE LORD, in His kingdom, are bound to be immense. not only everything in your life that you sacrificed will be multiplied, but who knows what sort of abilities we will have, when we too, like God, through our theosis, are no longer bound by the limits of physics, time, or space?

Attractive?  Nothing, in the human sense, though I think Holy Sister physically enjoys the rituals, the dancing naked and getting covered in mud and slime.

But just imagine, a newborn god has chosen you as his first prophet, given you the ability to peform miracles and taught you things you'd never have learned had you stayed at home in the fields and orchard -- and for this, asks only that you worship properly.  How could that not be attractive to a couple young sisters?

The tripartate god has always been healous, judgrmental, and ungrateful. They are an enemy of free will and self actualization.  They cast their children into torment, permit disease to run roughshod on creation, and regularly ignore thr pleas of those they have not anointed.
In contrast, we prefer for an individual to be uninhibited in their chouce, for their person to be sovereign from the judgement of others, and free to perfect themselves through acts of will if they so elect. Nothing should be forbidden,  although you are always free to not partake of that which displeases oneself,  it is a vile act to prohibit another's agency in engaging tin acts which please them.

They have sired children without asking consent, we always respect it and cannot enter another's flesh without invitation.

all that which the Tripartite God giveth and taketh away, is given back many times over in the end. discipline, and humility must be shown HIM, and the struggles against the passions must be ongoing. In serving and showing restraint, by going against our corrupted natures, it prepares us for deification, and the keys of heaven become ours. come judgement day there will be weeping and men shall gnash their teeth, as the tares are gathered and burned, and the wheat is safely gathered into HIS barn...

"Blah, blah blah... bloody god botherers.  If you had any respect for the celestial bureaucracy you'ld properly appeal to your ancestors to file requests for intercession for you, or intercede themselves when they have been granted those responsibilities, rather than constantly, selfishly, take up your god's time with your requests in person."

*beard scratching*

"Excepting the newly minted Frog God worshipers, you probably don't have ancestors to intercede with your god yet... and being a very small world wide congregation, your Frog god probably has plenty of time to make personal responses to your requests.  Though, it might want to petition the bureaucracy, there is always a place in the transcendent and immanent City of Heaven for a young god with a lot of hustle."

"OOC"  And with that I've given voice to all four character's thoughts on their gods and their place within their religion.  I've never finalized Ülo because I have no idea what the Trolls worship and she was a teenage Wizard/Druid anyway, so 'angry teen', 'vengeful witch', and 'nature lover' probably cover it.

Chye is no doubt a worshiper of his ancestors, and the kami, to which he is also related, through his dragon blood. the women of his line were chosen for their beauty, and unorthodox fighting spirit, that would prepare them for raising a prodigious and often unruly, dragon spawn. (think Chi Chi from DBZ) they are all "tiger-mothers", and quite gifted, themselves.

Add in a Coitaphobic Elf and another priestess, and Masugatan and Hugh are going to have a tantalizing journey!

Look, but no touching, or a god (or a mage) will smite you! For a man with limited self control, what could go wrong?

Lol, perhaps En would be best for Gareth...it is not like he needs encouragement to burn shit...or people. So it is not like he bothers the god, just gets justification and approval for what he is already doing. Well, is that not how most people choose their god?

Well, is that not how most people choose their god?

In the really real life?  No...  not as far as I can see.  Most are shaped to acceptance and belief in that religion during their childhood, or they hit rock bottom and have their entire world view shattered and have that belief system* show up at that moment to fill the new void they have.

* Which doesn't have to be a 'religion'.  Plenty of people have hit rock bottom and then taken a stark and fanatical turn in their philosophic, ethical, or political beliefs.  However, those beliefs are the least likely to survive the teenage years unquestioned in the way a religion can, so most people do not question if someone has a shift in politics, philosophy, or ethics later, or even several times in their life.

[EDIT]
Now as far as ingame is concerned?  Most Players probably chose deities for their Characters for the way they want to play them.

If that means the Character is restricted in behavior (Stenet), completely unrestricted in behavior (Jednesa), unrestricted but will have to apologise for bad behavior later (Dilandua), or constantly waiting for the lightning bolt to strike because they know they pissed of a god or two all of them (Jareth), is between the Player and their wrothful god GM.

Hmm, there is a fine line between 'religion and belief system, in that I have met some fanatical people who will get very upset if you call their beliefs a religion, but they have their 'priests' (folk who espouse beliefs as facts), their doctrine (what they are certain is true despite a complete lack of evidence, which they expect other to take 'on faith', and their expected ways of behaving. But lets stay out of the real world, or different opinions are sure to upset someone who is currently comfortable in their beliefs.

You forgot about the ones who do not believe the gods are anything more than a powerful patron who gets benefits they don't fully understand, but believe they might with some research! (Reanna! Huh, you thought I was going to say Gareth, didn't you!)

No, Gareth sees the gods as some patrons. You scratch their backs, they scratch yours. Piss them off, and they scratch your eyes out instead, or stick you is some horrible creatures larder for 400 years...The gods in his eyes use people like necromancers use bodies. The gods are just better at it, in that they use people while they are still alive, something Gareth is yet to master. So in the meantime, he 'frees' people from the gods control with fire. So in his mind he is helping people, doing a good thing! See, not evil, just misunderstood!!

Hmm, there is a fine line between 'religion and belief system...

Religion is a belief system, just not one founded on rigorous scientific testing.

But then... the same holds true for politics, philosophy, and ethics.  ;)

Science is also a belief system, it's just founded on rigorously tested and repeatable hypothesis.

Like that "one plus one is always equal to two".  Except when it isn't.

Yeah, yeah, no upsetting someone's apple carts (no matter how much tipping apple carts is my thing).

Nah, that's pretty well covered in my "restricted behavior, unrestricted but punishable, completely unrestricted, and worried about attracting anymore attention".  I mean I guess there's also the "trying their hardest but can't get Senpai to notice them" type.

Jednesa's personal 'deity' that she would pray to (if she were the type to pray) is a 'hero'.  A mortal who made it big and joined the gods because they couldn't stop him.

The Frog God finds undead most distasteful, and has no truck with demons.  He's what most folks would call a "good" god -- he'd like his followers to prosper, and has given us, his priestesses, powers and knowledge that will promote that end.

Oh, and Masugatan?  My opinion on sex, at least with men, isn't too far from Christine's.  I think Holy Sister's differs; you'd have to ask her directly -- but you'd better respect the answer you get.  Neither of us is under any kind of vow in that department, but we do know how to use these whips.  As weapons.

Can anyone point me to an R.E.I. store?  All this equipment is so heavy!  We need down sleeping bags, titanium cooking gear, a lightweight backpacking tent, and aluminum frame packs.

My pack alone is over fifty pounds!  Holy Sister's is forty-something.

Yep. Poor Holy Shitster...That is why it is useful to have a pack animal...or a golem! Chris is carrying over 70 lbs of stuff, including a 2 gal water barrel I just bought him and 20 rations in case of emergency...and a single WOMAN tent...she will make sure Masugatan gets that!

Talk nicely to Jednessa about what she can fit on her cart...group basics and a Legionary tent (8 person or a 1 Jednessa tent) is worth $275 lbs, she might come at that.

Hey, Jednessa, Masugatan is missing female company!
