Lol, sending Gareth off so you can talk is a great way to advance the plot! He is sure to attract some trouble...

I am glad others are enjoying it as much I am enjoying playing him!

Re: Out of Character 9

He is a complete pain in the butt, Gareth.  But, he's also spot on from a character point of view.  I worked with kids for a number of years in my early career.  You're playing him very accurately.  Perhaps too accurately...  :)

I have Haveron doing the very best he can to try and manage him.  He's having a lot of trouble with it, as you might expect.  Like you said, Gareth is going to be a management nightmare for whoever leads the party.

My biggest concern is that it might break the morale of the group, and cause a rift in the party.  That's why I have Haveron stepping away for his own time out, while the rest of the group tries to figure out how to manage things.

You want Kalima to push the demon back through the shop, through the door, into the next room and through the gate? By the time she did that, she could pincushion it ten times over!

Really?  It's got a DR of at least 7.  That was a near-max roll on the arrow that just bounced off.

Haveron has always been an overbearing character, from his start. a total control freak. xD

Chye, that is what has made Gareth such fun to play! And now, instead of discussing it like he asked, everyone is just ignoring the question! lol...

Re: Out of Character 9

I think the previous owner was overbearing with Haveron.  During my tenure I have tried to be more organizational.  Then again, that assumes people with social skills and the presence to recognize the bigger picture.  Gareth has the tendency to stare down the tree and miss Sherwood.  To him, Haveron probably does seem like a bit of a tyrant, because he doesn't accept Gareth's opinion on death magic.

Not knowing his strengths and weaknesses, you have played him pretty consistently as a leader frustrated by someone who does not follow real well! I have, as mentioned, found the interactions fun.

It was silver-tipped, though.  Unless this Khozapukt is demon enough to need magical weapons, it was sheer DR that turned that shaft.

In reply to Khozapukt (msg # 223):

I know the rl situation with this plague is laying serious stress on everyone. Work is going to be sucking heavily on my downtime, as we are a recieving center rapidly becoming a source. As a mildly paranoid person, I find this iteration of reality to be what I expected,  and only tiring, but then I am on some really sweet meds that make coping easier.
Not everyone is that lucky, and the fear is palpable enough to have physical effects.
Be kind to yourselves.  I will try to assist in your escapes from what is going on, and from the outright catastrophe we are being told is going on. I love all of you, and I want things here to be relaxing and enjoyable.

If anyone wants to pause a thread because of what's up, let me know.

Be at ease, and remember that when you want to scream, you can also laugh.

Kind of you to notice boss.

In my case, we're doing fine on my end.  I updated Aegis' equipment, and hope to get the character you requested started in the next day or two.

Right back at ya.  If you need a week or four off, if it gets too crazy at work, just say the word, we'll still be here.

Well we've been ordered to stay home unless we have to go somewhere important ...  still plenty to do around here, but certainly time to do post here.

Re: Out of Character 9

I was kind of looking forward to a vacation, paid with Federal funds, but alas, it's not to be.  My employer, a major industrial supply distributor, is considered an "essential" business (we distribute cleaning supplies, among other things, and deliver to businesses who buy from us) and will remain open until or unless there's a total lockdown.

Meanwhile, I've got close to six weeks of backlog in my tool repairs, for tool types no one else in the shop works on.  So, aside from lower traffic on the roads and a bit more inconvenience getting lunch, it's business as usual here.

Ardenas Barehand:
My employer... is considered an "essential" business...

Mine is so unessential it's not funny, but unless we have an order of shelter issued* for my area the Big Bosses are keeping us open.  Luckily the biggest Big Boss decided to lift penalties company-wide for people calling out and for picking up OT... so the Mother Unit is staying home and I'm doing overtime every week.

I work in the credit card mines (call center for CC enrollment), so normally we're packed in like sardines (and sicknesses spread like wildfire).  But almost half of us are elderly, and most of the elderly in our sales floors have decided to stay home, so it's actually pretty desolate looking in the building.

* And an order written such that our building manager can't weasel into us staying open, which he'll look for every loophole to stay open, his bonuses depend on it.

If the Gate and the Seal decides "hey, now is a good [term not found] to 'eat/subsume/make part of my infinitely vast quantum nothing' a small infernal cursed item shop" he might want to find the long way home... of course That Which Was and Shall Again Be might just open all the doors for a bit, which could serve Sedric well, or not (depending on where the door opens to).
