That is normally what gwythaint's transitional phrasing means... however he usually also phrases it bit more specifically, like "Meanwhile, back at the guild" and there would be a thread called "Back at the Guild".*

In this case there is no such thread... so either he means "wait while I whip a new one up" (which he normally does in a hour or so). or he means "go use a thread with a similar name".... however the only first page thread that is similar is "Welcome to the Adventurers Guild" which is dissimilar enough to make me think he doesn't mean it.


* there are two similar threads, "Back in the guild" which has lain unused for four years and "Back to the Adventurer's guild", likewise fallen fallow for four years.  Both are on page 6 though so I doubt he means them.

What does Benny do?  Wizard? Healer?  Ranged fighter?  Close fighter?  Second story?  Frog god follower?  ;)

Benny is a Dungeon Saint, so don't expect spells, he deals in miracles (and coin).  The difference is that Clerics are pretty straight forward and reliable with their magic, sure it might fizzle out here and there (bad rolls), but Saints talk directly to the source and ask "What can [GOD] do for me today?".  Sometimes [GOD] answers, "Oy, here's a miracle ya schlub!" and sometimes [GOD] is too busy shtuppin shepherdesses or stealing another [GOD]'s cattle to pay any attention to mere mortals (but as mentioned, Benny can perform some miracles reliably without asking, Healing is one of them, just to make sure he was useful on an adventure).

Also, admittedly to reflect his old age, I traded some of the Saints head-busting points for smooth talking... to better reflect the Lord of Merchants (and Thieves and Con Artists).  Benny would prefer to talk his way out of trouble, but he does carry a shield and wear armor for when it's time to stop sparing the rod.

And Benny is Played by evileeyore, so the following groups are off limits for him baring limited crossovers or divine intervention:
Juniors (Jareth), Seekers of the Flame (Jednesa), Against the Mageguild (Dilandua), Temple Hill (Stenet), Trading with Trolls (Ülo).

His combat and 'adventuring' skills are thin enough to fit well into 125 or 62 point group, though his Smooth Talking, Charisma, and Social Skills are solidly into the 250 point range for diplomancing.  And his Healing and miracles are strong enough to perhaps elevate him out those lower groups completely (overshadowing with power).

We could use a good healer.  Not sure how much good those other skills would be (so far, we've seen only rats, in swarms and size XXL, and walking corpses).

Well, if my services were needed I could certainly swing by and heal any who are very badly wounded... for a small donation to the coffers of Hermes of course.



The interesting thing is Benny can perform resurrections, Hermes willing.

Benny's a Saint, not a Cleric, so he doesn't pay FP normally... he prays and Hermes willing, it happens.

Gas anyone actually died PC-wise?  I know I haven't read over every thread, but I can't think of any Character that was around that is gone due to death...

Well... 'killed off' is a bit different than 'died'.  I mean it's not the Player is here trying to raise up an expedition to retrieve the corpse and get him rezzed.


And... yes.  Benny, having not had to interact with Broderik, could be persuaded to ask Hermes for a rez.  Though now that I think more about it, Hermes (as a psychopomp) conducted the souls of the departed to the Underworld, not the other way about... though being a trickster god, he might be up for some 'reverse the spirit journey' shenanigans.

Would Benny be willing to teach such skills to someone with the cash to put into the appropriate coffers?

All are welcome to learn if they have the coin.

What would the Church of Hermes consider an appropriate donation? Asking for a very interested bureaucrat...

Rank in the merchant guild paid for with s"liberated" coin would getvyou noticed, cash from any source to revitalize the temple. The current priest is a wealthy ranking member of the Merchant's guild who requires donations to the temple to get audiences and transact business. He has jewlers make all sorts of emblems and trinkets for the temple, and the temple, on an accessible lower portion of temple hill not too far removedfrom the sheine of Priapus. In town is a smaller shrine, part of a gymnasium, reflecting the athletic aspect of Mercury.  There are rumored to be a series of shrines to his thiefly aspect, once tended by the disbanded rogues guild. Finding and tending each of these would surely gain hermetic favor.

I smell an upcoming plotline for Mancini...
