In reply to Jednesa (msg # 87):

Christine would be happy to put the following in the Cart crom Chris's back pack, taking him out of light encumbrance and increasing his speed above 4.

• Rations ×20 (p. B288)                                                 10 lbs.
• Waterproof 2 Gal Barrel, $68, with rope loops, 5 lbs, 21 lbs full of (16 lbs) water

Also wanting to take the Herbary (Textbook, may split points among; Herb Lore, Gardening, and Pharmacy (Herbalist)) book we got at the Abbey. How heavy is it?

Ah, thought it was built in, so not applicable?

What is the weight of the book?

I will want him back to light an minimum.

Light for us is move 4 -- and that's as good as it's going to get with our armor, whips, shields, and pouches of sling stones.  Honestly, I don't know how anyone affords enough ST to get around in chain mail, never mind heavy plate.

It's most of what they do.  Also, Lifting ST is only 3 per lvl.

For instance by weight* Jednesa is 60% ST.

* As in 60% of her points are in ST.

Re: Out of Character 9

There are several ways to get there, but I will throw out the most obvious example.  Dwarves get extra lifting ST.  Doesn't help with hitting stuff, but it allows the character to equip a nice set of heavy mail.  If you're playing a Dwarf, you might as well spend a few extra points.  Paying for that armor ends up being a significant financial investment, which probably explains their tendency towards greed.

Where I've got about an even split between attributes and advantages, with a bit more than half of either one in the total of skills and spells (so 2:2:1, roughly).  Probably works better when you want to do more than just smash things...  ;)

Re: Out of Character 9

High ST is an investment, but it pays for itself in hit points and offense.  Jednessa can probably take damage all day with the DR reduction from her armor.  She's going to be more one-dimensional, but she's going to excel at it too.

I'll add...  Enough DX to defend and enough HT to stay conscious are the other required pieces to really be effective here.

Combat in GURPs is deadly, so you want (and possibly need) a big meat shield if you're going into the wild.  A party can compensate if they have enough offense in other places, like expert archers or offensive spellcasters.  Still, a wrecking ball like Jednessa is ALWAYS welcome as long as you have someone willing to play them.

And, there is the SnuSnu...

Yeah, ST is incredibly cheap for the dual purpose it pulls... but it is also so very limited in how you can apply it to the game world.

She doesn't have any armor.  But as a Barbarian and an Ogre she has access to buying stupid amounts of DR (Thick Skin).  Buck naked she's probably the heaviest "armored" meatshield we've got in game right now (at least until Gorgath comes back) at DR 10/12 (Everything/Crushing; Thick Skin).

Yeeeeeaaaahhhhhh....  sacrifices had to be made to hit a 30 ST.

I never go for "brute" types.  But I saw the massive DR and ST build possibilities and said "Hey, a Wrestler would be fun, let's play with having to touch all the horrible hazardous things in a dungeon!"

quote:
And, there is the SnuSnu...

Someday her prince will come and Northport will recoil in horror at the tremendous music they make.  Or it will be leveled by the foreplay fight.  Probably both.

Are you trying to say the whole damn dungeon is foreplay leading up to snu-snu...?

With enough payment in alcohol, Aegis is probably one of the few who wouldn't care.

I don't typically play fighter types either, but this game requires many hats so everyone can play what they love.  Thus, I have several characters outside my usual comfort zone, in an effort to make the stories go.  Many others have done the same, I'm sure.

I don't mind playing fighting types, I just tend towards Characters with skills and some measure of intelligence, as such I avoid meatthugs.  Jednesa is a mountain of meat, with meat piled on, shored up with meat terraces, and meat avalanches rolling down into the meat valleys... and nothing really else going on.

I mean I just made Dilandua, who is a cross between Swashbuckler (mostly) and Ninja (a little bit), which means "skill heavy".

For those that didn't immediately recognize it... The Lament Configuration, aka (properly) The Lamentation Configuration or Lemarchand's Configuration/Box is the "Hellraiser Box".

And yes, I did hear that Mario is more than smart enough to not touch anything.  Jareth is worried that others might not be so smart...  such as...

The ferret is more likely to steal a spellstone of (singular) demon summoning  or a bejeweled er, ring, that casts the obverse of strike barren, and vibrates. Or an old pocketwatch with a funny winding stem.

Still cursed items that Jareth does not want to find their way into his pockets.  Or someone else's pockets if Akimbo has that rare moment of stashing things elsewhere.

I'm far from an expert with Lulu, but is it reasonably possible to get Lulu to ignore one sheet out of the book, or resize that one image to page size?  It's certainly not hard to get a single page out of a PDF printed to actual map size (providing your local Staples etc. aren't the "we won't print anything that you can't prove is public domain" sort).

For those who know the books backwards, was there a bow modification somewhere that allowed a bow to be used as a staff in Melee combat? For that matter, it should be simple to imbue a bow with the staff spell to enable it to be used as a magic staff, right?
