Welcome to the Adventurers Guild.
In reply to Oren (msg # 25):
Trade goods means, in this case, that you can buy things like cloth, wood and leather items, fruit, vegetables, or herbsor live animals like pigs to sell to folks who, living underground, have no access to them. The merchant se)s the goods at the wealthy rate, and you get an increase, which is at the comfortable rate, beating your own average return.
These items might get sold for coin or barter, and many of the things from below have a collector's market.
Anything brought as a gift rather than for sale can get you a more favorable reaction from the locals.
Not trying to run GURPS:Economics, just giving you an idea of what is up.
Normally, average sales net you only 40% of value, comfortable 60% and wealthy 80%. Goods considered rare below ground are considered to be worth one step more than they are- cheap goods (40% cost) have good prices(100%), good items (100% cost) are considered fine (400% cost), and fine items (400% cost) are considered very fine (2000%) anything ornate will be worth 200% of base value.
Trade with have nots can be very lucrative. Selling at fair rates may bring the emnity of the Merchant's guild, but give a very positive reaction from those involved in the exchange.
