23:38, Today: Grimaldi rolled 9 using 3d6.  Grimaldi ~ 12+2 (HT roll, to avoid contact buzz).
Resting quietly in a corner, Grimaldi noticed the smoke, but was unaffected.
"Say, is that the same stuff as what the rope guild smokes?"

"I have no idea who this "rope guild" is, so I have no idea.  I gather these myself, they're okay for eating and cooking, but better dried and smoked."

"They must be mushrooms, then..I can't imagine anything growing down here, without their methods. The hob-goblins grow hemp, underground using enchantments, and maybe some alchemy."

Something clicks for Ulo when Grimaldi mentions hobgoblins... Once the trade with the trollfriends ended, in her early childhood, Visitors from the northern tunnels would vome with trade goods; cloth, hemp,  smoked fish, and some surface things.

Jendrich shakes his head as he leans against the wall. "I don't know how you do it... The longest I've been underground before was when I cleaned up the cellar." He turns to Grohm'Tahl. "How do you deal with it? I can't tell if it's mid-day, mid-night, mid... anything!"

He gives a heavy sigh, hanging his head. "Maybe I'm not cut out for this kind of life..."

Grohm stood in the doorway watching the mages search the room.  He turned towards Jendrich.

"I lived on the surface most of my life.  You just get used to it after a while.  I still don't take every trip so that I can get back up top.", he replied.

"Well, it's a fragrant herb, with many practical uses.. There's different cultivars, with different properties..the taller variety is good for giving one energy and creative and contemplative insights..the shorter, bushier variety is good for stimulating the appetite, managing pain, and bringing sleep.."

Ülo takes one last lungful, then holds and savors it while tamping out the pipe before stowing it and blowing the smoke at the ceiling.  Then she get's up saying, "Now let's see if there is starmetal laced in the wall, or if the effect is emanating from the next room," and crosses to the wall.

She presses her hands on the wall, chants and moves her feet and hips as though dancing for half a minute...



OOC:  Taking extra time, times 30, casting time increased to 30 seconds.

12:36, Today: Ulo rolled 11 using 3d6.  Shape Stone 15 (Skill 15 - 5 Low Mana + 5 Extra Time).

If the spell works she's enchanted a 6' high, 3' wide, 18" deep section (in case the stone is thicker here) and will open a 'viewing port' to see into the next room before removing the section.

the area is dead to the mmages, completely free of mana!

the pit/ceiling hole combo looks like something fell through from above and collapsed the floor.

"No, star metal fell in that room.  That's what's consuming the mana.  The question is, do I open this the rest of the way so we can examine the area and retrieve the valuable ore, or just seal it back up?"

Well it is valuable, but will also affect those of us with magic for the remainder of the trip.

"Only if you come too close to it or get it on you."

We are not so close now and there seem to be effects. If we are strung out as we walk, that too is a danger.

"The star metal is not going anywhere.  We still have to deliver that wagon of goods.  You can debate what to do with it on the way.", Grom said.  He seemed a bit irritated.
