"You know, I've heard a theory that any mage has some elven ancestry, and I have some of that gift.  Would that make me an abomination in your eyes?"  His expression and voice harden as he speaks and his eyes widen, emphasizing their violet coloration.

He draws Miekka eagerly...no need to roll bluff, it is clear to most he is not!

Benny sighs, and stands stepping between Sederic and Felix.  "Put your sword away young man, no insult to your lineage was offered."  Benny turns putting his back to Felix, "Ardenas, is this how you treat those you are trying to save?"  He looks at Sederic, "I expect such wildness from the forest fae," he catches Aoife's eye and gives her a wink, "but a civilized man of the city?  Do words cause you such pain that you must steel yourself for a completely one-sided confrontation?"  He moves as he talks and ends up behind Felix, he sets his hands on Felix's shoulders, "No, Felix has differing ideas, those ideas deserve to be spoken like all ideas do, and if one is want, even debated in a neutral forum.  Not threatened and castigated like as from thugs in an alley."  He pauses for a moment, then moves to sit again, "But we are not here for debate.  We are here for answers and to possibly save a lost soul."  He sits, wincing as he does so, "Felix, you say Johan asked for nothing in return of borrowing of these books, was it he that suggested the side work or introduced you to the clients?"

Felix glances at Sederic with mild disgust.
"Johan suggested nothing more than what book to read next. I  am the captain of my own destiny, and picked which jobs to tske on my own."

Mancini, figuring that Felix was not going to give anything else up without further motivation, decided to change tactics.  "So, you're the mastermind we've been looking for all along? It was one thing when you were a mere puppet... A soul to be saved, but now, what to do about you?"

He calls to Kalima. "Would you have any objections to getting rid of Felix, if he has in fact been the mastermind of the Ledger?

Ardenas takes a couple deep, slow breaths.

"It is against Master Albreth's and the Buddha's teaching to kill thinking beings by premeditation, else I might do it myself.  This one needs to learn whereof he speaks concerning 'purity', and he can no longer learn if he is dead."

Benny raises his voice, clearly riled, his accent slides back that which is more commonly heard in docks than on Temple Hill, "Now see here!"  He stands and winces, then looks up, "Hermes, lend me your grace to navigate this rough path."

He straightens himself, the "educated older gentleman" voice returns, "I will not sit idle while this wayward soul is culled for no reason other than malignant thoughts and words.  His path can be steered, as Ardenas has said, until a man dies there is redemption.  Now I suspect there is nothing more Felix can share, and unless saying things that are untoward is a crime in Northport, and Hermes spare me if it is, I suggest we send him on his way as there is nothing more we can learn from him."

Benny stands next to Felix, resting his left hand on his shoulder, his shield still leaning against the wall, but his right hand resting on the rod hanging at his side.




OOC:  GM before Felix skedaddles, if he is allowed to do so, Benny wants a word with him.

"No, thinking and speaking are not, as far as I know, restricted in Northport -- though one does occasionally meet someone who makes an argument for the latter."  Ardenas glares at Felix.  "Still, you can't actually stop it, you can just turn it into whispers and glances and convince the whisperers there's something to the drivel they're repeating.

"On the other hand, I don't know that it's that good an idea to just let him walk out of here.  Sure, we've closed the library, but from what I'm hearing, it's a little late for that.  This man seems to hate anyone who isn't human.  I wonder, is his own lineage so completely pure?  Not an elf or Urhaqui or fae anywhere?"

Sederic waited quietly. He was here to add flesh to the threats some were using, and he seemed to be doing it well if even Benny was worried. Not that his threats were empty...he just never expected to be allowed to carry them through. Not yet...

"Where are the books now?"

"What was asked of you in return for the books?"

"You rewrote some pamphlets, who hired you for that job?"

"What did Johan ask you to do?"
