Re: Junior House Again

Nodwin leads the way back in the direction they came, since many people (like Brodak and Clarence) needed space to exit the room.

Re: Junior House Again

Jareth stops Brodak, Mario, and Jocelyn from going up stairs, "Didn't see nothing.  Is what has fy hackles up.  Noise without beast?  Not right."

He keeps an eye on the tunnel (trying to stay out of the door in case Mario has to shoot) and positions his light to hover in the middle of the tunnel between the opposite gated rooms.

"Jocelyn, got any spells fer sensin?  Life, death, what's hidden, whatever?  Call up at Nodwin, ask him t'e same."

Re: Junior House Again

With the tunnel clear, Mario has retaken his position with a through-grate angle for a shot, as far to the west, where the noise was, as possible.

"Invisible beastie, then.  How'm I going to shoot what I can't see?"

Re: Junior House Again

Nodwin takes a bit to navigate to the front, but when he's next to Jareth he nods.  "I may be able to ask Vejovis for help.  He sometimes lets me see what others cannot."

That said, Nodwin puts one knee on the floor, along with one end of his staff, and begins to pray.

No, nothing like that, but mayhap something that may help... she casts and a small light appears, which moves down the hall toward the junction of the halls at 2 hexes (6 feet) a second.

Re: Junior House Again

Mario frowns at the light and reflection.  "That looks like a pool of clear water -- but it's standing up instead of lying on the floor.  That's not natural, I think."

He shifts his position, to gain a clear shot at the reflection of the floating light, then draws his plain arrow from the quiver, nocks, draws and releases, between one heartbeat and the next.

"I have a cask with 8 pints..." he says, tucking his weapon into his shield hand so he can draw it out of hit pack. it is not like it is small and hard to find... "but perhaps someone else should using it. Away from the water so it can be effective, I would think...do you think it is a jelly? Gosh, I never thought of that."

He uses his lights to try to see how close it might be.

"Depends how fast it moves, but worth a try."

Mario leans his bow in the corner of the door frame, pulls out his picks, and goes to work on the lock.

Being a little younger, Nodwin has not heard of this thing the group is discussing.  Curious to know more, he asks "What is a jelly?  I do not recall ever hearing about such a thing?"

And how much water is there? With the arrow hanging midair, Clarence now agrees with Jareth. He looks for a way to pour oil over the thing without loosing the oil in the water.

"Clarence, watch it for Mario, jelly move fast when t'ey pounce.  Or was that oozes... ken slimes don even move..."

Jareth moves further back to give everyone crowding the door room.

"Mention t'em on our first delve Nodwin, only know what I hear an read.  Have acidic body substrate, envelope t'ey prey.  Most move like lumpy pool, or weird clear grease glob on ceiling or wall, but t'e cube is construct.  Wizardry shape t'em to form an t'ey scour t'e sewer for food.  Like ot'er jelly can't ooze through small openings, but be strong enough push gate open even with us holdin shut.  It might be too big to squeeze up stairs."
