There start to be regulaLar tugs on the rope, in keeping with the beat of the flapping sound. You can hear Akumbo scampering.

Jareth will gently reel the rope in until it stops being jerked on.

The rope becomes taut, and starts to pull diwnward with each flap. The ferret can be heard scampering up the rope...

Nodwin immediately grabs on to the rope to add his strength to the people already holding it.
"Well, what is the ferret telling you?"

Jareth just tries to hold it steady for Akimbo.

Akimbo having returned safely, Jareth unloops the rope and let's it go and stops anyone from trying to save it.

"T'e rope got cuaght t'e fan mechanism.  Akimbo says t'ere somethin big an ugly movin it, it's probably golem or undead."

He thinks for a moment, "An it's only about fifteen yards down, two levels at most.  Hmmm..." he opens his writing board and takes a few notes and briefly sketches the are they seen so far.  He distractedly says, "Mario, go ahead ... relock this... can't go that way... Brodak wouldn't fit..."

The rope zips downward, and as you resecure the lid, there is a whini g noise followed by a crash from below, andt the slapping noise ends.  The breeze is no longer blowing...

"Well, that could have gone better."

Jareth makes a few more notes about the 'potentially' busted machinery below.

"Right, now need decide how far we're explorin, let's get with Nodwin.  Mario, if ya could also relock t'e gate this room?"

Jareth steps back over to the staircase room to confer with Nodwin.

"How much ya want explore down here?"  Before Nodwin can answer he turns to Jocelyn, "Jocelyn what direction was t'e silver ya sensed?"

Jocelyn knows it to have been northward... to the right of the stsirway gate, away from the intersection along the "wider" hallway

As Jareth and Jocelyn discuss the direction of silver, Mario applies himself to the gate lock on the triangle room.

Clarence is just holding the lights. Since that is what he does...and going where directed.

Nodwin cocks his head when Jareth approaches him.  "I'm more than a little concerned about the clear...whatever it was that we saw, even though we fought it off.  I'd like to come out with the silver, and I'd like to see us solidify the basement of our little community.  However, as Vejovis is my witness, I'm not sure it's safe.  Thoughts?"

OOC  I can just see how infamous we're going to be.

Mario, finished with the lock, nods agreement.  "Much as I'd like another pocket full of silver, I have to agree that making our basement secure needs to come first -- unless we need more pockets full of silver to do that."

Mario thinks for a moment, orienting himself to above-ground directions.

"Quarter mile, that's what, about two hundred paces?  Probably easier to get there on the streets."

OOC: Absolute direction: what compass heading is Joceylyn pointing to?  And what's about a quarter mile away in that direction?
