Jareth leans out of the doorway to have a around where the gate and walls blocked off being able to see.  He looking for more evidence of whatever dissolved the metal of the gate.

Jareth waves Brodak forward and makes to follow him to watch for traps.


If we're at a crossroads, Jareth will point out the direction Akimbo went, towards the room with the noise.

Brodak steps forward, looking and sniffing as he goes, Axe ready.

Nodwin takes up the rear, with his staff in hand.

Mario falls in with the advancing group, near enough to front to be able to shoot past those ahead (though shooting around Gorgath can be a challenge).

The corridor this gate opens to is just over two yards wide.
Directly accross is a small triangular room with a gate facing you (with a step up) and immediately to the left is a 1 yard wide cross corridor. The triangular room has a grate on that side as well (two sides grating, one side stone) and inside, there is a column about a yard high with a metal lid shaped like a pyramid.  A stro g current of air blows from under the pyramid.

The two yard corridor is east/west, and continues in both directions. The narrow one is North/South

To clarify:
The stairs ended in a small room with a gate.
From what you can see,all gates on this level are a step above the floor.
Ouside the room in an east westcorridor 2 yards wide. To the left is a 4 way intersection with a 1 yard wide N/s passageway.

Directly across from the room you are in,and occupying the NE corner of the intersection isa small room; you can see a gate occupying mst of its southern wall and a matching grate (criss cross bars) covering most of its west wall- you can see through this.

Inside this ventilated room is a triangular pedastal with a pyramid cap on it.

Jareth motion Brodak and Mario to hold the cross tunnels and waves everyone else out of the spiral staricase room.  He pulls the gate shut and uses the small wooden wedge from upstairs to gently wedge into the gate to hold it shut (but easily removed if they have to evacute in a hurry).

The breeze is shifting, becoming stronger toward you now, and there is a faint squekching sound like mud being stepped in coming from the North pssage, although you cannot see why.

Brodak has his shield up and axe back, ready to swing as he looks at where the noise is coming from...

Jareth steps over to the gate of the triangle room, raps his walking staff on the floor, and chants a quiet word in Eldritch.

The staff flashes silver under it's wrappings and a flicker of silver candle light appears over his head.

Mario glances toward the source of the breeze, but then turns his attention to the source of the sound, bow raised and right hand near the fletching of his arrows (the plain one, and the silvered and solid silver tipped ones).

"What is that?  I don't see any mud."

There is a faint flicker of light, as if reflected from Jareth's staff... at the north side of the intersection.

Nodwin steps up behind Mario but does not advance any further.  Instead, he observes the proceedings, since they were already well represented in the front of the group with capable fighters...and Jareth.

He looks at the shimmer and tries to remember why it seems familiar...

In addition to the light from his spell reflecting... on nothing... in mid air beyond the western grating of the room with the pyramid pillar, Jareth can see that the pyramidal cap to the pillar has a hinge on one side and a lock hanging fromthe opposite corner.

The breeze is blowing thraight out of the gate to that little room now, and with more force, while there is a slithery, squelching sound from the west, by the intersection (to Jareth's left)

"Back into t'e stairs room till ken what this be."

He pulls the wedge out of the gate letying it swing inward and motions for everyone to retreat.

Mario holds position, bow still ready against whatever it is to the west, until everyone else is clear of the hall other than Jareth.  While the fire drill is in progress, he whispers to Jareth.

"What in the names of the Three is that?"
