Aldous takes a short step toward the eyes, lowering his lantern and watching the shadow it casts to get an idea of the size and shape of the creature.  He switches to a low guard.

there is a clattering sound, and Aldous espies  the spiked silhouette of a venomous  spined giant rat.... but it looks ...odd.

Adolus is skewered! three things happen:
he loses 1 FP to draining cold
he takes 4 pts impaling to the arm before DR
his arm starts to swell;he takes 2 points poison damage, and will each round until a HT roll succeeds


Sven is at risk for the same effects to his leg as he tackles the creature, make a dodge!
