Hannatti looks interestedly around the Temple of Ceres but doesn't have much to contribute to things religious, but is happy to absorb any such.

Balir waits to relay his information until Aethul's return, which creates great consternation and causes the baron to come down to see it before breakfast.

the head is three times the size of a teopy slorn head on the wall...
He is quite impressed.

Does Kirpich find out anything at either of the other temples?

He will join Aethul on his return in presenting it to the Baron.

The Head you asked to see, it was indeed a monster and very hard to dispatch.

OOC: In case we are waiting for me: I am not saying anything because I don't really know what is going on. Are we all together now? Are we with the baron now? Or was that just a short moment? If the baron got the head, does that mean we still have the skin? And if so, should we get someone to fix it into armor for one (or more) of us?

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

At the mention of the reward Balir lights up and nods. After all that is why they were there in the first place. And as his companion throws the tower into the conversation, he decides it is time chime in "Das ist richtig! There is a tower out there which has been infested with vampires of the worst kind. I have just been to the Archives and learned that there was supposed to have been a magical ward on the tower preventing the fiends from leaving, but we saw evidence that victims had been taken to the tower and killed. So the ward must have been weakened. Perhaps time has taken it's toll on the magic ... who knows."

Balir deliberately leaves out that if the barrier had actually been broken it was most likely done by themselves, as that would quite certainly mean there would be no reward for killing the vampires. Naturally, Balir would have wanted to clear out the tower either way, as there had been plenty of evidence of a great silver treasure in the tower, but he had never been one to turn away from a bit of extra coin. "So we were wondering, if possibly the baron would be interested in offering a reward for preventing a vampiric infection from spreading through his lands," he added hopefully, while tip-toeing enthusiastically.

Hannatti visibly perks up at this. She shows a definite interest!

If the baroness is present she tries to let the baroness know this, perhaps a nod, a pointing finger and a tiny step in the adventurers' direction..

The baron's eyes narrow.

"You seem quite interested in that tower. clear it, and it can be yours! A fortalace such as that is worth more thsn mere coin, but I have silver for you as well."

Balir's eyes open wide in surprise: "We will be ... landed? Can we ... collect taxes then?" He stops himself, as he fears the baron may rescind the offer. "Either way, I believe we accept," he says, looking at his companions while nodding encouragingly. "It will be an excellent base of operations once it has been restored. It is in a rather bad shape right now," he adds looking at the baron.

"Naturally we accept the generous offer for removing yet another evil from the land, especially welcome for the silver you offer as reward, but for now, there was also the offer of silver for the beast we have already slain, that we would appreciate. It will not compensate for the loss of a friend, but it will help reduce other stresses..."

<orange>"The value of the tower far exceeds that of the original reward for killing the beast.  I  offer you true ownership of the fortalace, and you may do with anyone...squatting...as you wish. I  also have 3 lbs of silver coin.

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

In reply to Baron Marcel Pequenaud (msg # 589):

"Dealing with any squatters when you know it is filled with intelligent undead, and possibly worse? What a generous way to say it...but the silver is more in line with what was offered for the beast. We graciously accept the reward for the beast, and will attempt to reclaim the tower to remove that blight from your lands."

So 200 sp or $4,000 per person involved if I add up correctly?

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

Balir keeps up appearances and remains relatively calm, but on the inside he is very excited at the prospect of co-owning a tower and getting another sizable reward. As Kirpich accepts the offer, he joins in "Yes, that does seem like a fine offer. I accept too, my baron" He looks at Hannatti and Aethul hoping for them to agree as well, so they can get out on the road - and get rich(er).

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

Hannatti stands quietly, still hoping for a formal invitation to go help clear out squatters rather than a one way ticket to the baron's prisons. Although the latter would prevent her haviung to worry about paying for her next meal, it was totally far from ideal.
