Re: The Beast of Veroigne

OOC: @GM: Thanks for the tip on where to find armor mastery (it was in DF 11 to be specific).
@Aethul: Yeah, that armor mastery is incredible. As I understand what the GM is saying, he will allow it to stack with my chain mail without penalty. It will be very hard for me to give it up now. And thus we need to find a way to give it to someone in the group without making anyone too unhappy :). Maybe a payment is necessary?
And another note, Aethul, could you find some wild roses while we travel to the tower?

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

OOC: Well, we have a few days there, so maybe Aethul can find some wild roses on the way.
But how does that whole NPC thing work with Snorri and Marlene? Do they mostly stay quiet and then pop up when there is combat? Do they get a part of the loot? Rewards? Do they improve along with the rest of us?

And since we don't seem to be able to get an armourer here who can make an armor from the skin here in the backwater town anyway, maybe we should just keep the skin for now, get to a big city and have an armor made there. Then we can also wait with the final decision on who gets it, and how we deal with splitting gear for a little while. And we can move on for now. Maybe some gear will drop that will make the split easier.

Hannatti stands quietly next to Aethul. She nods when he comments about the armour making a huge difference.

When the conversation reaches the point of folks moving on to tackle the tower she flexes and gets ready.

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

In reply to Balir Ironhide (msg # 623):

The hide is loot, and should be evaluated like all loot. Whoever gets it should therefore pay the value of the loot minus their share to all other stakeholders, shared equally. That may require going into debt. Hence, we need to know the hides value first. Can the Very Fine Silver balanced armour piercing pick be purchased here, or just fine ones? Very fine would counter Silver's tendency to break completely.

best you can get here is Fine.
the npc duo gets 1/2 xp but have been getting full shares; they are likely just to look for loot from the tower and leave the ownership to the others, perhaps paying a p er rk to germt free room when in the area.  both had big roles in bringing down the beast, Marleknocked it out a few times, and Snorri did serious damage.  He feels a sense of obligation to Kirpich for saving his life, but may cash out after this run.

OOC: Thanks for recap on NPC.
And as I said: Get garlic now. Get wild roses on the way. And when we have our reward, let's go to big town to have the skin assessed.
If anyone else wants to buy garlic, now would be good time. Does anyone want something else? Else let's move on.
Was it 20$ for garlic for entire group? Or per individual?

Looking at a fine silver coated pick in that case, but thinking that an enchanted weapon may be needed, so perhaps a trip back to Northport is needed. Holy water is available here, and is holy?

OOC: Also, coming to think of it, Balir wants 2 wooden stakes and 2 wooden pikes (basically a stake with an axe handle on it). As Kirpich says, we need holy water too.

the woodworker looks at you funny, but assembles a pair of wooden pickaxes. The temples of Ceres can offer holy water, and $20 is about a bushel of garlic

Aethul will need a few silvered arrows and his sword silvered, he will need some of the money the baron provided to do that.

In reply to Aethul (msg # 631):

Kirpich is happy to loan him, and the baron has given $4,000 to spend as well. How much do you want? I notice Magic arrows are actually cheaper than silver ones, but loose their magic after one shot, whilst silver ones have a chance to be recovered. Silvered arrows/bolts are $40, whilst basic magic ones are $27, if I understand correctly.

Interesting, well lets get about 5 magical and three silvered.  Silvering the sword is going to bea bit more pricy.

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

OOC: OK 20$ per bushel is a bit more than I thought it would be. But I will get 3 1 of those then (I guess a bushel is a bit more than what I thought).
How much for the stakes and pikes?
And about the money, did we get 4000$ each or did I misunderstand that?

In reply to Kirpich Rockson (msg # 635):

Winding back to what is available here then, A Fine, Balanced, Silver coated Armour Piercing Pick is just $1,260. # Cloves of Garlic are $60, and Holy Water?

No enchantments limits other use of cash, but wooden stakes and a hammer may not be a bad idea. He does not use ammo, so little use there.

Does one need the cloak skill to get the DB from a cloak?

Ok. So like a shield, no roll required. Obviously most shield modifications do not apply to a cloak. Is fine the only one that does?

No, I normally wrap up in my blanket and my oilskin. it's a lighter way to travel but not always comfortable. Perhaps we can coordinate our gear to prevent duplication of necessities.
